Now Hiring: Public Health Nurse I or II (Immunization and School Health) (Two Positions Available) Under direction of the Immunization and School Health Nurse Supervisor, the Public Health Nurse (PHN) I or II is responsible for implementing and providing programmatic oversight for personal, clinical, family focused and/or population-based health services. The PHN works directly with at risk populations, carries out health promotion programs at all levels of prevention, basic data collection and analysis, field work, program planning, outreach activities, programmatic support and other organizational tasks as assigned. The PHN provides high-quality, equitable preventative services, such as immunizations, assessment of Social Determinants of Health, and referral to resources based upon assessment findings. This position focuses on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Franklin County Public Health. Duties Include: Provides public health nursing services to individuals, families or populations within the Immunizations and School Health program. Safely and accurately administer vaccinations during routine, community based, outreach or any additional immunization clinic types. Have a working knowledge of recommended Childhood/Adult Immunization Vaccination Schedules and Childhood/Adult Catch-Up Immunization schedules. May assume role as vaccinator, triage, charge or administrative (front desk) nurse at any clinic. Educate client/parent/legal guardian on required and recommended age- appropriate vaccinations. Answers questions in a professional and respectful fashion. Promotes adherence to the CDC vaccination schedules. Completes required clinical and billing documentation accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EclinicalWorks). Supports the completion of Get Vaccinated Ohio grant deliverables through multiple activities including completing vaccination reminder/recall, being trained to deliver health care provider immunization trainings, and assisting the GVO grant coordinator in providing quality improvement training to health care providers. Assists in inventory management and ordering process of vaccines, medical and emergency first aid supplies. Monitors and rotates vaccine and supplies that are close to expiring. Ensures that vaccine and supplies that have expired is removed from inventory timely and is documented appropriately. Demonstrate competency and ability to maintain, manage and troubleshoot all immunization clinic and vaccine storage equipment. This includes ensuring that all preventive maintenance, calibration, and repairs are scheduled and completed per the equipment maintenance schedule. Completes temperature monitoring of all vaccine storage units per ODH requirements. Ensures the safe and proper transfer of vaccines to and from other medical or public health vaccine providers as needed. Completes required transfer documentation per requirements. Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities. Requirements and Preferences: Public Health Nurse I Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited College of Nursing. Knowledge and proficiency using an Electronic Health Record system. Current and unrestricted Ohio Registered Nurse license Ohio Driver's License BLS CPR Certification Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited College of Nursing preferred Public health or related nursing experience preferred. Immunizations experience preferred Public Health Nurse II Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited College of Nursing 2 years' experience in nursing including public health, case management, primary care, or related discipline. Documented knowledge and proficiency using an Electronic Health Record system. Current and unrestricted Ohio Registered Nurse license Ohio Driver's License BLS CPR Certification Immunizations experience preferred Hiring Salary: $27.96/hour - $32.85/hour for Public Health Nurse I $29.79/hour - $35.00/hour for Public Health Nurse II This is a non-exempt position.
