Salary: $24.76 Hourly Location : Palm Springs, FL Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 633 Department: Utilities Opening Date: 07/09/2024 SUMMARY This position maintains the electrical and instrumentation systems at the water treatments plants, wastewater collection systems, water distribution systems, and vacuum sewage systems. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Lead Utilities Electrician. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES The following duties are normal for this position. Performs repairs, replacements, and routine scheduled maintenance of electrical components. Performs maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, electrical equipment, and other related equipment. Prepares and maintainsaccurate maintenance and repair records. Uses and maintains a wide variety of electrical tools and test equipment. May assist in the installation of electrical conduit, wire systems, motor components and related electrical devices. Observes standard operating procedures, safety practices and follows NEC Code and NFPA guidelines. Identifies existing or potential facility or equipment failure and reports the problem to supervisor. May perform minor excavation of job sites by manual labor or the use of various equipment. Operates, cleans, and maintains various power tools and equipment. Maintains all administration paperwork associated with regulations compliance. Creates a plan of design to upgrade and enhance the electro technical system to include budget projections. Directs, trains, assigns and reviews work of Utilities electrical staff in the field. Provides recommendations and costs for additional instrumentation technological advances and any electrical upgrades. Performs routine on-call shifts as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED (education will be verified using the "Education Requirements" listed below) and six (6) years of experience as an industrial electrician, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.A Journeyman Electricians' license or higher and a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.Previous supervisory experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of industrial electrical systems; PLC's (programmable logic controllers), electrical circuits; and various instruments used in the Wastewater industry. Knowledge of SCADA system operation. Knowledge in the proper use of tools and safety practices. Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and instrumentation. Skills in electrical systems repairs and upgrades. Skills in programmable logic controller programming. Skills in water and wastewater instrumentation calibration andinstallation. Skills in SCADA Systems configuration. Ability to respond quickly to critical situations and carry out assignments as instructed. Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints. Ability to understand the operation of all electro technical systems andthe facility and coordinate the effort of a diverse team of technical employees. Ability to install, troubleshoot, repair, and operate electronic and electrical equipment and related circuitry, computers and other related equipment. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English. Ability to understand electrical and electronic designs, and repair circuit boards, and troubleshoot circuits and to use oscilloscopes and other equipment. Ability to conduct component level troubleshooting. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Knowledge of Utilities Policies and Procedures. The Village of Palm Springs offers a complete benefits package. PROBATION: All positions serve a (6) six month probationary period PENSION PLAN: FRS (Florida Retirement System) Mandatory 3% employee contribution of your gross salary Fully vested after eight (8) years HOLIDAYS: We have 14 paid holidays per year. Police Holiday is paid or comp'd at ten (10) hours for holiday except birthday which is at 8 hours. Birthday is an additional paid holiday but must be requested approved by supervisor, and taken in the same week as the birthday occurs. PERSONAL LEAVE TIME: Accrues weekly from hire date at the rate depending on length of time in service. PLT may be used, paid, after six (6) months.
