Salary: $225.00 Daily Location : Admin Special Education Pre K Job Type: Part-Time Job Number: 0198SPEEPTP Department: Admin Special Education Pre K Opening Date: 03/05/2024 Closing Date: Continuous JOB DESCRIPTION Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) is seeking part-time educators in the following area: EARLY CHILDHOOD & PRE-K SPECIAL EDUCATION (SPED) TEACHERS SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS PSYCHOLOGISTS who are exceptional and highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for retired teachers who seek a challenging yet rewarding teaching experience. Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor/Administrator and Consistent with the Providence Public Schools' vision and mission, the Special Education teacher is to work in partnership with parents, students, and the general education teachers to promote student achievement. Additionally, the Pre-K Evaluation Team will: Provide daily instruction based on the RI State Standards, the Providence School District Curriculum, and student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Implement, develop and case manage their students' services and IEPs in accordance with State and Federal Regulations. We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin. RIDE Certification Requirements (based on position): Early Childhood Education Teachers, Grades PK-2, and Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, Birth through Grade 2 All Grades School Psychologist, Grades PK-12 All Grades Speech and Language Pathologist, Grades PK-12 ESL Certification Preferred DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES EARLY CHILDHOOD & PRE-K SPECIAL EDUCATION (SPED) TEACHERS Administer appropriate district curriculum which is aligned with the Rhode Island State Standards. Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in various settings aligned to goals and objectives of the students' IEPs. Work and teach collaboratively with the general education teachers and paraprofessionals utilizing the co-teaching model, sharing planning and instructional responsibility for all students to create the least restrictive environment. Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities within regulatory timelines. Complete quarterly progress reports per RI Regulations and ensure that the goals and objectives of their students' IEPs are implemented. Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment. Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional environment. Provide a classroom management/discipline plan ensuring safety at all times. Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans as identified by student need. Integrate technology into the instructional program. Provide individual and group interventions to students in the Response to Intervention Process. Implement scientifically-based instruction to support the unique academic, social, and behavioral needs of students as appropriate. Collect, administer and report progress monitoring data for all student goals. Adhere to federal, state, and local mandates in special education. Schedule and case manage three (3) year re-evaluations for students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal regulations. Ensure that students with disabilities receive a free appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. Conduct, implements and develops alternate assessments consistent with RIDE regulations Participate in district and school-based professional development activities. Maintain a web based portfolio and outcomes data on all of the children assigned to the pre-k class. Develop and provide daily, authentic pre-k learning experiences aligned with the RI Early Learning Standards for all students. Participate in timely data input services for Medicaid billing, utilize the web-based IEP system, and participate in the time studies for administrative Medicaid claiming as scheduled. Utilize positive behavioral supports as appropriate Work professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and community. Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions Provide differentiated, developmentally appropriate pre-k learning experiences aligned with the RI Early Learning Standards. Provide and implement appropriate accommodations for all types of formal assessments. Perform other duties as assigned. SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS The primary responsibility of a speech language pathologist is to screen, evaluate and provide appropriate services to students with communications disorders(articulation, voice, language, and fluency) and help each student reach his/her maximum potential to understand and use speech in a meaningful way. Administer speech and language screening procedures; evaluating, as requested, the speech and language of each referred student with suspected communication disorders; reporting and interpreting findings to the team of qualified professionals; Utilize a variety of measures, both formal and informal, that are appropriate for evaluating the various communication disorders; writing evaluations which are clear and objective; Develop clear, behaviorally stated goals and objectives for each student recommended for speech and language remediation based on evaluative data; Implement the Individual Educational plan for each student served, and periodically evaluating the effectiveness of that plan; developing and maintaining a regularly scheduled speech and language program; Participate as a member of the Team of Qualified Professionals and the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team contributing evaluation findings, collaborating on the development of the IEP, diagnosing students' eligibility consistent with District, federal and state policies, procedures and regulations; Participate in timely computer logging services for Medicaid billing, use the web-based IEP system, and participate in the time studies for administrative Medicaid claiming as scheduled; Adhere to requirement and state and federal laws regarding students with disabilities; Maintain web based portfolio for students assigned to case-load as appropriate; Proficient in language of instruction Implement reasonable appropriate time allocation for observation, testing, case management and paperwork associated with providing necessary services and support to students; Assist in assessing identifying and maintaining assistive technology equipment and supplies to meet the goals and objectives of students' IEP; Collaborate with and provide consultation to classroom teachers, parents, caregivers and other school staff members to implement and integrate therapy strategies across all settings; including appropriate classroom modification and progress of students; Participate in school-based problem solving teams in identifying at-risk students experiencing expressive or receptive language delays, assists in designing and implementing research-based interventions, and monitor students progress; Develop individual or group activities and programs in schools to deal with speech, language, or swallowing disorders; Document observational notes to portfolios of students; Attend professional meetings scheduled for speech-language pathologists; participate in planned in-service/professional growth activities; Perform other duties and tasks as assigned. PSYCHOLOGISTS Identifies and assesses the learning development and needs of individual and groups of students that affect learning and adjustment. Use assessment data regarding the student and his/her environment in developing appropriate interventions and programs; Performs psychological assessments of students which includes observations, data collection, interpretation and analysis; Prepares interpretive reports from psychological assessment in accordance with District, state, and federal guidelines; Provides interventions to students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning and adjustment; Participates and leads teams in identifying at-risk students experiencing academic and behavioral difficulty, designing and implementing research-based interventions, and plan progress monitoring components of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions; Provide individual and group interventions services for students, including social skills training and crisis interventions; Work closely with teachers and teams to enhance critical skills, including conducting formative assessments, interpreting data, creating intervention plans and making data-based determinations about the efficacy of interventions; Provide individual or group psychological support to aid student's social and academic adjustment as it pertains to assisting students in accessing education; Participate in planning and/or implementation of school or district level crisis response teams; Lead teams in conducting functional behavioral assessments; Provides information, and/or education in the application of learning theory and child development, to school personnel and parents; Participate as a member and case manager of the Team of Qualified Professionals and the Individualized education program (IEP) committee contributing evaluation findings, collaborating on the development of the IEP, diagnosing students' eligibility consistent with District, federal and state policies, procedures and regulations; Proficient in language of instruction Participate in data input services for Medicaid billing, use the web-based IEP system, and participate in the time studies for administrative Medicaid claiming as scheduled; Adhere to requirement and state and federal laws regarding students with disabilities, and professional ethics and standards of school psychology; Design and assist teams in implementing and monitoring behavior intervention plans for students and make data-based decisions regarding the effectiveness of the plan to meet the social/emotional needs of our students; Confer and consult with teachers, staff, families and outside agencies about strategies to facilitate the social and affective needs of students; Assist in the implementation of district programs and curriculum to support student behavioral and academic success; Assist with the coordination/management of the Team of Qualified Professionals and school-based targeted teams; Assist in interpreting outside evaluation such as neuropsychological, clinical psychological and psychiatric assessments as appropriate; Provide teacher consultation and in-service training regarding ways to facilitate learning and adjustment for individuals or groups of students; Helps provide liaison and coordination between the school system and agencies to facilitate services for students and families; Engage in professional development opportunities for school psychologists; Participate in Family Engagement Opportunities. Support English and Bilingual children, families and teachers. Performs other duties as assigned.
