Job Responsibilities About Midlands Regional Center Midlands Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Job Responsibilities This position provides daily nursing care, training, activities and treatment to the people who live at the Regional Centers according to all licensing and Certification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Policies and Procedures. Under the supervision of a RN, provides nursing care, treatment, and training of all assigned in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act and SCDDSN Policies and Procedures. Administer route oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures. Monitors health conditions of the individual and reports findings to medical provider and appropriated staff. Assist physician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed. Maintains a safe and sanitary living and working environment. Assures accountability and protection from harm for all individuals are appropriate and thorough documentation. Review Monthly MAR and 90-day recertification orders, completes healthcare Records, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and SAOM Evaluations; Assistant with weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures; assure proper documentation. Is licensed as a Practical Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Preferred Qualifications Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing and their relationships to the preventative and control of disease. Must be knowledgeable of the principals, practices, and techniques of current nursing practice. Have a good understanding of the nursing process in the clinical setting. Must possess the knowledge and application of professional conduct in the care of individuals and with other staff. Must possess a good understanding of nursing/medical terminology and current regulatory standards/practices. Ability to maintain accurate records and accountability. Physical abilities to include balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting (without assistance - fifty (50) pounds, with assistance over fifty (50) pounds, grasping, hearing, repetitive motions, driving (including nights), counting working 12 hours shifts or double shifts as necessary, running, and smelling abilities.
