The Courtyard & Residence Inn by Marriott , located in the Brier Creek/RDU area of Raleigh , is currently hiring for a part-time Banquet Houseperson . The person hired for this position will need flexibility to work AM or PM, depending on scheduled events. If no events are scheduled, this position will perform Houseperson duties. Weekday and weekend availability is required. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Perform various banquet duties, including banquet set-up/breakdown, while focusing on detail and quality presentation and first-class customer service. Perform Houseperson duties, when not performing banquet duties. BANQUET RESPONSIBILITIES Set-up/breakdown of banquet and meeting spaces per Banquet Event Order instructions, including tables, table complements (salt, pepper, sugar, breadsticks, etc.), table linens, table settings, center pieces, dishes, audio-visual equipment, and all other event provisions; Approaches all encounters with guests and colleagues in a friendly, service-oriented manner Reviews Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) with strong attention to detail. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of banquet spaces, before, during and after events; Inspects table place settings, including table linen, china, glass, silverware and condiments for correct placement and ensures that each element is clean, undamaged and attractive Ensures proper setting of buffet tables and other food service tables Participates in clearing and post function cleanup and garbage removal. Returns all equipment to the necessary storage location Maintains clean and orderly back areas, pre-function areas and storage areas Supervises the handling, storage, and security of all catering service and Audio Visual equipment Exhibit a positive, enthusiastic attitude committed to a teamwork effort HOUSEPERSON RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains the overall cleanliness of the hotel's public space by cleaning all assigned areas thoroughly on a daily basis Cleans public areas including: floors, elevators, lobbies, hallways, vending areas, service areas, stairwells, and work out room Completes work projects as assigned by supervisor and management Cleans and polishes floors, windows, mirrors, vending machines, and ice machines Vacuums, shampoos, and removes gum spots from carpets as required Removes all litter from public space Dusts all spots thoroughly Supports housekeepers by assisting with room servicing as needed Uses housekeeping chemicals as necessary to clean assigned areas to standard Prevents any damage to hotel property by exercising proper caution with chemicals and equipment Ensures the rapid maintenance and repair of hotel equipment by reporting all maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner REQUIREMENTS Ability to lift +/- 50 lbs Highly responsible & reliable Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team Prior housekeeping experience or other relevant environmental services experience Must be available to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills. Maintain a professional business appearance, attitude, and performance Knowledge of cleaning techniques and safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employees in this position work indoors and outdoors. This position often requires long periods of standing and walking as well as frequent reaching and kneeling, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting and moving objects 50 lbs or more. The Banquet Attendant must be able to quickly maneuver to any location in the hotel. Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
