Ingredion is hiring a Lead Mechanic to support the critical aspects of the maintenance and reliability of the operations unit to ensure the continuous and ongoing operations of the plant. This position leads maintenance techs to perform daily activities to deliver plant safety and business objectives. This position is responsible for ensuring the standard work activities are completed for each shift. They support mechanics completion of both preventative and corrective maintenance. This position is instrumental in driving the Company's maintenance and reliability strategy to provide business results and satisfy customer needs. Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Accepting responsibility for the safe completion of all work completed under direct supervision and conducting routine safety walks and inspections of the site. Taking ownership of the equipment in the unit and across the plant to ensure continuous and reliable operation, responding to all unplanned maintenance needs, and providing technical expertise to troubleshoot plant issues. Providing leadership to drive innovation and improvements as the organization transitions from a reactive maintenance environment to proactive. Contribute to spare parts management. Own and execute preventative and reactive maintenance for the facility Interface with and utilize predictive maintenance team and technology to improve availability Evaluate bad acting equipment and take action to improve availability Ensure area specific KPIs are at target. Organize, oversee, and direct external contract labor as required. Provide formal and informal recommendations regarding design for reliability Correspond as needed with vendors to facilitate equipment repair or improvements Coach employees on machinery inner workings as needed Evaluate team skill levels, providing input and support to accomplish training needs Strive to quickly resolve day to day maintenance issues Possess the ability to understand baseline knowledge of operations to utilize that knowledge in the maintenance function. Understand internal customer needs and their connection to the needs of external customers. Ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships. Utilize your knowledge and experience to recognize and implement opportunities for improvement. Ability to utilize technology for day to day and exceptional needs Ability to support night and weekend issues when needed. Position type and expected hours of work: Education and experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent technical training and a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience, including 3 years supervisory experience. Practical understanding of predictive maintenance tools/techniques, precision maintenance skills and experience The ability to effect change through persuasion and excellent communication. Ability to obtain results through other by establishing an environment of employee growth, trust, and accountability. Knowledge of SAP and Prometheus systems as it pertains to maintenance and operations a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft software including MS Project, preferred. Use of KPIs for decision making and corrective action. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to conduct effective meetings. Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to operate a forklift and electric warehouse lifts. Ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of maintenance practices.
