Syntegon Technology operates globally and is responsible for the successful expansion of the service business in North America for Packaging Technology. As a Controls Engineer at Syntegon Technology, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining automation systems for our innovative process and packaging technology solutions. You will be part of a dynamic team that provides cutting-edge solutions to our customers in the pharmaceuticals, food, and confectionery industries. Key Responsibilities Design and implement electrical schematics, PLC programming, and bills of materials for automation systems. Develop functional description documents and perform engineering calculations for machine lines and specific machine functions. Provide expert-level support for complex PLC software, controls, and automation problems. Research, test, and implement new technologies and methods to improve efficiency, quality, and performance. Lead and execute product-line development projects to develop new capabilities. Coordinate and implement maintenance tasks for PLC and PC-based controls platforms. Provide technical support to customers, sales engineers, production engineers, and technicians. Contribute to Syntegon's continuous improvement initiatives and engineering processes. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and industry safety standards. Qualifications Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Automation, or Robotics (or equivalent). Minimum 5+ years of experience in designing automated capital equipment. Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell RSLogix5000/Studio5000), HMI software (e.g., FactoryTalk View ME), and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet IP, CIP). Experience with CAD/CAE software (e.g., ePlan P8 or AutoCAD) for electrical design. Knowledge of industrial design standards (e.g., UL508A, CE, NFPA70E, NFPA79, OSHA). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with vision systems (e.g., Cognex). Knowledge of automated packaging machinery and mechanical mechanisms. Experience with multi-servo axis machinery and system control software. Experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT 2/3 PLC/Motion Software and SAP. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
