About The Position Mechanical Engineer II Salary range: $85-110k At Aitech, our team is driven to redefine the possibilities of embedded hardware systems for space applications. We pride ourselves on 40+ years of successful space hardware delivery to our customers! We are growing our team to support human space flight missions to the lunar surface and beyond! The position requires a mechanical design engineer who is experienced in the design and packaging of ruggedized embedded computer systems for military and aerospace applications. The candidate will be responsible for the design, documentation, and production support of electro-mechanical components and systems per specific customer requirements. Within Aitech's small company environment, the role is a combination of functional leadership and hands-on performance of mechanical engineering tasks. The individual will also support preparing and presenting customer presentations and participate in face-to-face customer discussions as required. Experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software. Expertise in FEA structural and thermal analysis is required Knowledge of material properties and finishes applicable to the design of metal enclosures and electronic packaging components is a must. knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5M-1994 practices modeling and 2D prints. Working knowledge of datums, feature control frames with basic dimension, tolerancing, MMC and LMC, boundary conditions, and profile controls required Hands-on experience with creating 2-D working drawings from a 3-D model including appropriate notes Working knowledge of the creation and control of Technical Data Packages (TDPs) per DOD-D-1000 and MIL-STD-100 Working knowledge of military, ANSI/ASME and IPC specifications Effectively communicate project/task status with the project team and supervisor. Working knowledge of Document Control and Configuration Management procedures Working knowledge of sheet metal, machining, metal finishing, and metal shop practices is a plus Proven ability to manage multiple major/complex projects and meet deadlines. Successful candidate will have and be proficient with Microsoft Office tools Experience in DFA and DFM. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Support design reviews and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs. Excellent leadership skills to perform the responsibilities with minimal supervision. Track record of "on-time" performance. Well-versed in engineering mechanics, with a focus on dynamics Recommended Experience: A minimum of BS + 4-6 years, MS + 2-4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on electronic enclosures design and analysis. Recommended Education: BS ME (and/or equivalent experience) with MS desired Requirements The position requires an engineer with a diverse background in the mechanical packaging of electronic circuitry for the development of embedded computer systems. This is a full-time on-site position. Must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the United States
