Salary: $26.92 - $36.36 Hourly Location : Scottsdale, AZ Job Type: Full-Time Regular Job Number: FY Division: PUBLIC WORKS Department: FLEET MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS Opening Date: 10/02/2024 Closing Date: 10/16/2024 11:59 PM Arizona Introduction About the Position: The Fleet Mechanic classification performs maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of automotive, heavy-duty truck and equipment, and transit buses. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent. Must possess training, education and experience equivalent to five years in diverse automotive, heavy-duty truck and equipment or transit bus mechanics and maintenance. Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted. Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Must possess, and maintain in working condition throughout tenure, a complete set of hand and power tools in compliance with the Fleet Minimum Inventory Requirement. Preferred: Four ASE mechanic certifications. Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work. Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment. Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following: Performs skilled repairs and maintenance on a variety of gasoline, diesel, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and alternative fuel powered equipment such as solid waste trucks, construction equipment, bucket trucks, backhoe/loaders, street sweepers, police patrol vehicles, fire apparatus, light duty vehicles and other equipment. Adjusts air and hydraulic brakes. Maintains and repairs hydraulic systems. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment on a regular schedule. Supports other mechanics and is a team player by helping other personnel with their job duties and training on use of tools or equipment. Uses a computer for Fleet operations and as a reference source. Work Environment/Physical Demands Operates a variety of equipment and machinery requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movements. Works in cramped or confined spaces, climbs up and down ladders, reaches overhead and bends or stoops continually. Lift and moves up to 50 pounds. Visual and manual dexterity to service equipment. Works evening, nights, and/or weekends and/or a modified workweek.
