Where you will work: The Augusta mill sits along the Savannah River, on the state border between Georgia and South Carolina and manufactures light, medium, and heavyweight coated paperboard. It is a well-invested SBS paperboard manufacturing facility with approximately 600 thousand tons of capacity.This facility boasts over 700 employees and has been in operation for almost 65 years.Located on 3,000 acres, the Augusta site operates two paper machines that produce 1,940 tons per day.The Augusta Mill is Clearwater Paper's largest paperboard facility and is critical to the success of our strategy and future. What you will do: Process Safety Management (PSM) / Risk Management Plan (RMP) Develop and leverage strong relationships with key business stakeholders, leading local team efforts around PSM/RMP in concert with operating departments and strategic direction from corporate OPEX and EHS teams. Demonstrated understanding of the impacts of PSM/RMP program and compliance requirements. Champion the identification of capital and expense/repair budget needs, related to PSM/RMP covered process equipment, and preparation of related budgets and projects for submittal. Deliver annual self-assessments of PSM/RMP program elements to assure the on-going health of these processes: Develops, implements, and coordinates program self-assessment annual schedules for affected areas of the mill. Works with members of the mill work teams (Maintenance, Safety, Environmental and Operations) as required. Support mill personnel with ad hoc assessments of the PSM/RMP program elements and facilitates corrective action development. Administers the site's PSM/RMP management information system (e.g., software systems such as Process Map or similar tracking systems) to assure effective on-going management of all PSM program elements and action items. Oversees the facility's use of standardized tools to execute PSM/RMP processes, including contractor services in satisfaction of the PSM Contractor Training Pillar requirements: Ensures contractors have completed trainings and hazard recognition requirements. Reviews, in conjunction with site and contractor project coordinator, critical details/information for successful contractor onboarding. Oversees contractor work on PSM/RMP covered processes at the facility, ensuring acceptable contractor safety performance and the contractor's utilization of effective EHS programs. Ensures and supports completion of pre-start-up safety reviews (PSSRs) for all new or modified equipment installations, management of change, and other modifications to equipment or processes. Participates in project teams for all projects to which assigned; may act as project lead for medium to larger scoped projects focused on assigned location or team. May mentor junior members of the team. Provides on-call/weekend duty coverage as assigned by the business. May perform backup responsibilities to designated teams as needed. Documentation Compiles and oversees the systematic management and updating of all Process Safety Information (PSI) at the facility in conjunction with facility departments and contractors. Compiles and maintains a library of design codes and standards as referenced in the facility's "Design Codes and Standards" document. Responsible for ensuring the site has a robust Management of Change Process (MOC), factoring in process and equipment-related changes, maintenance chemical and material changes, procedural changes, and operational changes, for all changes that impact PSM/RMP covered processes. Oversees updates to equipment-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for PSM/RMP, with the participation of the relevant department personnel. Responsible for ensuring all covered process operating procedures are reviewed and certified upon development and when changes are made, and annually thereafter. Maintains the facility's covered process(es) as required for the Master Equipment Listing and Preventative Maintenance and Inspections Schedule. Files Operator Logs and trending on covered process data collection systems frequently to understand current and ongoing operational issues with respect to covered process equipment or elements of the PSM/RMP program. Training Ensures the facility's employee participation plan is implemented. Demonstrated proficiency in PSM/RMP program requirements and versed in facilitating training as needed. Ensures annual training related to PSM/RMP for all applicable facility employees is completed in a timely manner and properly documented in APSM software or on appropriate PSM forms. Leads in the delivery of training and documenting employee training completions for those involved in covered processes on equipment-specific or system operating procedures and safe work practices per the plan's requirements. Coordinates mock exposure/response drills and training with the site's safety team and the local designated fire department. Audit / Review / Investigate Schedules, participates in, and ensures timely completion of the facility's PSM/RMP process elements, such as Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change(s) (MOCs), Pre-Start-Up-Safety Reviews (PSSRs), Mechanical Integrity Inspections, etc. Assures development of appropriate corrective actions, and tracks-to-close all recommendations and findings from these processes. Ensures all PSM/RMP documentation and/or corporate safe work practices are adhered to as it applies to the covered process(es), with special attention to process requiring hot work permitting, line breaks and lockout/tagout (LOTO). Actively participates in, and/or may lead in conjunction with affected area leader, in PSM/RMP related incident investigations and corrective and preventive action development at the facility. Tracks-to-close all corrective and preventative actions resulting from these incident investigations. Manages the facility's PSM/RMP Compliance Audits including tracking to closure of all audit recommendations and reporting out on pertinent KPIs. What you will need: Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or business preferred or five years of industry experience in engineering, operations and/or maintenance role(s). Three (3) or more years working experience in an industrial environment, with a strong preference to paper industry experience. Demonstrated understanding of PSM Pillars or willing/able to learn through specific classes or onsite training, preferred. Other preferred/required experiences/certifications desired: PSM Certification - or ability to acquire certification within 18-months from time of hire. Process Hazard Analysis Certification- or ability to acquire certification within 24-months from time of hire or as designated by the business. Root Cause Analysis Certification - or ability to acquire certification within 24-months from time of hire or as designated by the business. Demonstrated project and time management skills with strong ability to prioritize tasks/assignments, detail, and results orientation. Demonstrated intermediate problem resolution skills that ensure proper evaluation, escalation, and effective ownership to resolution of more complex issues. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to express ideas and opportunities to superiors, peers, suppliers, and contractors. Proficient in reading technical drawings or willing to learn. Must be self-motivated, energetic, and work with minimal supervision. High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete and uneven surfaces. Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment. Dirt, noise, odor, and temperature extremes. Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
