ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SUPPORTING DUTIES : Debt Protection Claims: Process and code debt protection claims, ensuring accounts are marked as active claims. Follow up with members and debt protection representatives to confirm payments are received for loans and member needs are addressed. Post and manage debt protection exceptions. Bankruptcy Process: Process and code bankruptcy notices in compliance with FDCPA and the Federal Bankruptcy Act. Maintain accounts according to policy, including updating lines of credit, MasterCard, and other services. Insert or remove "Derogatory Information" coding as needed and print Adverse Action notices. Navigate U.S. Bankruptcy Court and local trustee websites for relevant information. Manage other duties related to bankruptcy account portfolio. Repossession Functions: Execute repossession procedures for both voluntary and involuntary repossessions. Oversee the repossession process from assignment through collateral sale. Close repossession folders and determine deficiency balances. Perform other tasks related to repossession account management. Legal Collections Process: Process legal holds for liens and garnishments on accounts. Review and address requests from credit union employees. Handle required documentation for warrants and judgments. Respond to and follow up on related requests. Real Estate Accounts: Monitor and collect on delinquent Real Estate accounts, including outsourced mortgages and in-house real estate products. Process mortgage payments as needed and follow up with members. Report issues and updates to management. Negative Shares (Pre and Post Charge-Off): Monitor and process negative share accounts through daily reports and assigned queues. Address member inquiries and concerns related to negative share accounts. Ensure proper coding, shutdown, and updates of accounts. Review for legal recommendations and follow up as needed. Recovery Collections: Collect on charge-off accounts not outsourced to third parties. Monitor in-house recovery accounts and received payments. Coordinate with third-party collection agencies for outsourced debt recovery. Work with management on recovery settlements and communicate with members regarding charged-off and recovery accounts. Perform additional duties as assigned related to recovery collections. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Required Education: Education up to the equivalent of a four-year high school education. Required Experience : Minimum of 6-24 months loan/collections experience or equivalent. Preferred Experience : Previous work history in a credit union/ financial institution. Required Knowledge: Working knowledge of Collections Laws, Bankruptcy, Regulatory Compliance and Fair Credit Reporting Act. SCRA, Fair debt collection act. Well-organized with the ability to manage tasks and prioritize effectively. Skilled in identifying and resolving issues efficiently. Meticulous in handling details and ensuring accuracy. Capable of working autonomously and collaborating effectively within a team. Adept at managing conflicts and addressing member expectations.
