About the job Palermo's Pizza is looking for an Industrial Engineer to join the Continuous Improvement (CI) department. The CI department is responsible for leading cost savings project in operations, providing training on Lean manufacturing principles, managing the Redzone system to provide operational metrics, and support new product launches by documenting the current capabilities of the production lines. As an Industrial Engineer at Palermo's, this candidate should be prepared to work with cross-functional teams to facilitiate problem solving events. This role will work on Kaizen projects that range from increasing throughput, decreasing waste, and maintaining labor standards. The role also requires working with data systems to extract, model, and analyze data to help guide the problem solving process. This position requires sound leadership, operations and process improvement knowledge, keen core finance and business acumen, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills What you'll do Be assigned to specific cost savings projects within the production plant Lead and facilitate Kaizen events with with cross-functional teams such as training, maintenance, safety, quality, warehouse, and operations departments Be a part of developing and maintaining the Continuous Improvement strategy that includes policies and procedures around Lean manufacturing principles Work on projects that require the use of Lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, PDCA, SMED, value stream mapping, standard work, root cause analysis, Gemba walks, poka-yoke Become a Redzone admin and gain deep knowledge of OEE calcuations, quality auditing processes, and autonomous maintenance systems that are currently in use at Palermo's Create policies and procedures within the CI department and provide training on Lean manufacturing tools and new process changes or implementations Why you'll be successful Provide clear communication on project progress, be able to understand upcoming risk, and find strategies to mitigate risk in order to meet goals Have the ability to impact teams by providing great data analysis and facilitation skills Be a coach and mentor to those who are new to learning Lean manufacturing tools Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business, Lean or Six Sigma certifications are a plus Be comfortable interacting with, and coaching, individuals at various levels, different languages, and cultures, within the organization with the appropriate level of tact Be self-directed and self-motivated, have the ability to manage time, multiple priorities, and resources to achieve goals Who you'll work for Palermo's passion for food and family reaches all the way back to Italy, where pizza was born. Where you'll work Located in Milwaukee's Menomonee River Valley, Palermo Villa is a state-of-the industry manufacturing facility that adjoins our company headquarters. Our high-tech pizza manufacturing operations include bakery equipment for crust production, robotic packaging equipment, and a 24-hour shipping and receiving warehouse. Palermo's has an additional production facility in Jefferson, WI and there will projects at both sites; however, approximately 80% of time will be on projects that are in Milwaukee, WI.
