In this role, you'll be an essential part of creating thoughtfully designed toys that encourage children to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, the possible in the impossible. ROLE OVERVIEW We are seeking a Structural Packaging Engineer Contractor to be located onsite in our Wilton, CT Headquarters on a hybrid schedule (30-40 hours/week) and report to the Packaging Director. In this role, you will be responsible for developing turn-key solutions on a wide range of structures for product packaging, displayers, and shippers. You will manage numerous projects simultaneously while working cross-functionally between our product, packaging, engineering, product development, compliance, and quality assurance teams. Candidates should be self-motivated, creative, and able to work independently to meet deadlines while balancing considerations such as cost, sustainability, and retail space. Responsibilities: Develop a best-in-class process that ensures our packaging structures meet cost considerations, showcase the product, and hold it in place properly while delivering on quality and sustainable goals. Research and translate market/design/consumer trends into innovative, yet functional, design directions. Using a variety of materials (paperboard, corrugate, plastic, and other alternative manufacturing materials), provide unique solutions to design challenges. Create engaging presentations that may include sketches, renderings, and/or functional prototypes. Communicate with package designers, product designers, factories, and safety and quality assurance teams throughout the design process. Create technical drawings of packaging concepts or modification of existing drawings using CAD and/or Al software. Drive die line ideation through the development cycle, from creating, prototyping, communicating with factories, to proofing die lines and reviewing production samples. Maintain a database of common product sizes, price points, and die line templates to assure continuity across programs and product categories. Maintain packaging specifications and bill of materials database. Evaluate packaging sizes based on price point, POG maximizations, and shipping constraints. Track and resolve drop testing issues. Correspond with overseas factories for die line alignment with printers. Research alternative environmentally friendly materials and provide packaging solutions to meet overall company-wide sustainability targets. Miscellaneous duties as assigned Qualifications: BS or an equivalent degree in Structural Package Design. 5-8 years of structural packaging experience preferably in the retail market. Complete understanding of design as it pertains to manufacturing processes. High proficiency in creating 2D and 3D renderings/drawings using Artios CAD and SolidWorks software. Ability to work with Eska type of cutting machine Ability to work with Adobe CS platform (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) Superb attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Understanding of sustainability practices.
