Description Kitchell is currently seeking a Senior Project Estimator to for our team in Houston, Texas and contribute to the growth and success of our Houston office.This is an opportunity to build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States. The Senior Project Estimator provides conceptual and detailed cost projections; manage the bid process for competitive bid negotiated projects; participates in the supervising and training of assigned estimators and maintain overall cost control templates and databases. Duties and Responsibilities •Prepare project estimates, develop project cost summaries, present and explain results and recommendations. •Provide training for Project Estimators, review their work and perform estimate reconciliation. •Analyze concepts and schematic designs to prepare estimates. •Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized. •Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs. •Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts. •Organize and lead efforts on competitive bid projects awarded on either lump sum or GMP basis. •Quantify and price all trade scopes and assembly estimates using Excel and/or Timberline. •Review all estimates and bids with Estimating Manager and Operations assigned Project Executive before submission to clients. •Lead estimating efforts on large, multi-phase projects under CMAR, Design-Build, or IPD contract structure. •Develop preliminary bid lists and bid posting templates. Review all bidder lists with Estimating Manager. •Maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors. •Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience Required: •Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field required. •Minimum 10 years position related work experience in project estimating or related field required. Knowledge and Skills Desired: •Previous experience in estimating and preparing conceptual estimates. •High degree of construction knowledge and analytical skill required. •Computer experience using Excel and Onscreen. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential. Work Environment •While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a climate controlled office environment.
