Job Details Level Experienced Job Location Hoboken, NJ - Hoboken, NJ Position Type Full Time Education Level High School Salary Range $15.00 Hourly Travel Percentage Up to 30% Job Category Facilities Description The Maintenance Assistant position is responsible for performing multiple repair and maintenance tasks throughout the day, which could include, but is not limited to: carpentry work; electrical; plumbing; painting; HVAC; flooring; outdoor landscaping and snow removal; general facility repairs. This position will carry out repairs and maintenance work as assigned, ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently and with minimum disruption to staff, clients and members of the public. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for routine maintenance tasks of the HOPES CAP, Inc. property buildings and grounds. Daily delivery of breakfast and lunch as well as supplies to multiple HOPES locations. Electrical repairs and maintenance: lightbulbs, wiring, circuit breakers, fuses. Carpentry & General Construction: woodwork, sanding, painting, etc. General Plumbing: toilets, faucets, fix leaks, etc. Facility Repairs: doors, doorknobs, locks, broken tiles, polish floors, staining, etc. Outdoors: landscaping and snow removal; sidewalks and driveways, etc. Develop and maintain full knowledge of HOPES CAP, Inc. site layouts and utilities, and communicate their locations and functions as needed. Operation of various facilities maintenance equipment; including but not limited to: steam cleaner, buffing machine, grass cutter, power tools, etc. Perform vehicle maintenance functions and mechanical repairs for vehicles; including but not limited to: tune-ups, fluid checks and changes, tire repairs and replacements, filter checks and changes, cleaning vehicles and auto body work (mechanical and cosmetic). On-call assignments during various and severe weather conditions affecting HOPES CAP, Inc. properties. Assist with maintaining a high standard of building cleanliness in all areas used by HOPES CAP, Inc. Support Facilities Manager in completing tasks as assigned. Attend meetings and trainings for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures. Maintain confidentiality in regard to all agency and program records. Enter all relevant data into assigned internal and externals software applications and physical files as required by agency processes and guidelines and funders. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Must be fully met in order to qualify for position) High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and minimum of 3 years' experience in craft/building maintenance work with a valid New Jersey State Driver's License. Valid Boiler Operation License Ability to speak, read, write, comprehend, process, interpret follow and carry out instructions spoken in the English language and written in a variety of documents and reference relevant to the job Ability to work independently and collaboratively under critical time frames and apply good work habits to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the program.
