We accomplish this through an empathetic and innovative approach, and by utilizing our interdisciplinary platform as an investor, developer, owner, and operator.Fairstead's Core Values: Empathy, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Determination & IntegrityWe are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Real Estate Paralegal with experience in New York multi-family housing to oversee rent collections, manage delinquent accounts, and provide legal assistance in handling disputes and evictions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in collections, real estate law, property management, and the ability to handle sensitive tenant communications in a professional and empathetic manner. This role will also involve working closely with property managers, tenants, legal counsel, and third-party agencies to minimize financial losses and ensure timely collections.Key Responsibilities:Oversee and manage the rent collection process for multiple multi-family properties.Collaborate with the property management team to resolve disputes and negotiate payment arrangements.Develop and implement collections strategies to reduce delinquency rates and maximize cash flow.Prepare reports on the status of collections and legal actions for management review.Conduct outbound communications (letters, calls, emails) with delinquent tenants.Resolve disputes related to rent payments in a diplomatic manner while ensuring legal compliance.Collaborate with property managers and attorneys to initiate and manage eviction proceedings.Work with outside legal counsel on complex collections and litigation matters.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws governing tenant rights and collections practices.Stay up-to-date on changes in landlord-tenant law and fair housing regulations.Maintain proper documentation and records for each tenant and legal case.Qualifications:Experience in collections, legal assistance, or a related field.Knowledge of New York legal procedures and regulations related to debt collection.Strong organizational and communication skills.Proficiency in financial software and databases.Please note, this role is on site, 5 days per week, at our New Savoy Park office.
