Therapeutic Creative Arts Therapist- Youth Group Homes $65K This position requires travel to Atco, Sicklerville, Manalapan, Millstone Township and Freehold Do you enjoy using art and forms of creative expression to help clients improve their physical and mental health? Come work as the Creative Arts Therapist where you will work with individuals age 15 to 21. You'll use a variety of mediums - music, dance, drawing, painting, sculpture, etc. - to help individuals served access their creativity, express themselves, relax, and gain psychological insight. You'll provide them with support and encouragement, helping to increase their self-confidence and providing an outlet for the expression of their feelings, all in support of their treatment plans and goals. Prepare a recreation/leisure assessment within the first week of admission for each client Develop and implement activities for creative arts groups (e.g., singing, drumming, participating in art projects, dancing) for each client on a weekly basis Work with clients individually and in group sessions, using the arts to encourage self-expression, creativity, increased self-confidence Provide therapy and documentation relative to each session on a weekly basis Teach clients basic skills necessary to engage in creative arts (e.g., a dance step, mime, painting, drawing, utilizing various musical instruments) Confer with allied health professionals (e.g., psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists) about the goals and objectives for each client Maintain records on client progress and assist in discharge planning Evaluate clients' responses to creative arts therapies through observation and interviews Train and monitor staff in accessing community-based recreation opportunities Qualifications: Masters degree in a related arts field NJ Issued LPAT License required Exceptional communication skills with an ability to establish trust and rapport quickly A good listener with an ability to empathize while still providing guidance Why Join Us?
