How you will make an impact: The primary responsibility of the Materials Scientist is to lead and enable materials science as a strategic champion and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Company's existing and developing product portfolio. The Materials Scientist will lead material science and technology development projects for novel products in close collaboration with external and internal stakeholders. The Materials Scientist will support team-selling efforts as resident material science SME, promote and present material science competency to customers and industry forums, and provide materials-based and technology risk assessments, and guidance for internal stakeholders and to support company initiatives and product development programs. Lead and enable materials-based programs and technology development projects by collaborating closely with customer process development and production sites, and in house R&D, Product Engineering, Applications Engineering, Product Management, as well as Raw Material (RM) suppliers, as a personal contributor in the Meissner Technical Services (MTS) team, and alliance management for adoption of novel filter and single-use technology and products. Provide materials and technical assessments pertaining to product development, raw material (RM) and supplier qualifications to meet compendial requirements including those for well-characterized materials. Develop material specifications and rationales for RM and process changes, including supplier-initiated changes, alternate supplier qualifications, material equivalency and comparability, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects. Present and conduct training seminars demonstrating superior materials knowledge to individuals and large group audiences. Support sales and team selling efforts as the resident materials SME to prospective and existing customers alike to aid in positioning products toward successful implementation commensurate customer needs and requirements. This is an on-site role based out of our headquarters in Camarillo, CA. The skills and experience you'll need: Minimum 4-year degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science. Minimum 2-year experience in either pharmaceutical process development, material science and technology (MSAT) to the pharmaceutical industry, or supplier quality as a technically proficient professional using filtration, single-use or CGT products is required. Proven performance and a strong record of accomplishment in project management, meeting and exceeding company goals is necessary. Must have practical experience with regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Must have a mastery of scientific and engineering principles and think critically. US BASE PAY SCALE $72,500 - $86,600 The base pay scale for this role is what Meissner reasonably expects to pay for the position although actual pay may vary from this scale depending on an applicant's experience.
