Overview EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION: Significant high-level analytical/operational experience performing program/project implementation which may have included: scheduling, cost estimating, constructability studies, dispute resolution, claims analysis, or commissioning. Evidence of progressive career development and demonstrated expertise in construction management, project management, engineering design or related field. Experienced in the supervision of mid-sized groups. Responsibilities MAIN DUTIES: Project assignments including on-site representation of client, project documentation, estimating, scheduling, plan review, quality assurance, research of records. Capable of leading effort on mid- to large projects. Frequently initiating client contact and often a primary interface with clients. Working within project budgets and providing leadership on project teams. Maintains positive and productive working relationships with peer leaders, superiors, and subordinates. Participates in interviewing and recommendation of candidates to fill vacancies and build capabilities within the workforce. Mentor and facilitate the imparting of technical knowledge to staff including the transfer of technical knowledge from the more senior personnel to those with less experience. Manage, direct and coordinate the work of assigned technical and clerical personnel. Monitor progress and quality of work produced by others assigned to him/her. Inform the Project Manager/Construction Manager of the performance of assigned staff. Analyze and optimize internal and external processes. Conduct site visits, identify potential engineering problems and propose solutions and alternatives and provide recommendations to Project Manager/Construction Manager. Provide subject matter technical engineering expertise and support and review technical work of others. Adjust workload to changes and work to meet deadlines. ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Engage in business development, participate in marketing activities, active participation in company initiatives, and project management on small to mid-size projects. May prepare, monitor, and manage client project budgets. May provide training to less experienced personnel. Attend and participate in professional association meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of civil engineering. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Advanced degree preferred. PE preferred. Other specific certification such as CCM, CCE, PSP, CxA, CCP, CEM preferred. Engineering principles, principles of construction management and project controls, with specialized knowledge in several areas including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, construction techniques. Solid understanding of all of MBP's services. Basic data processing principles as related to the solution of engineering problems. Engineering mathematics and statistical analysis techniques. Construction methods and practices. State and federal regulations, construction codes and safety practices pertaining to the work. Basic project management and supervisory principles. Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficiency with MBP's diverse services. Capable of managing multiple assignments. Operating at level of expert in one or more service areas with final work product. An understanding of technical jargon and the ability to translate photographic and written engineer centric language into a clear and concise brief report. Crisis management/problem resolution. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals. Proficiency with many software applications including Microsoft Office programs, CADD, BIM Platforms (such as Revit, Novisworks, and Autodesk 360), graphics, scheduling (Primavera Project Planner or Suretrak Project Manager), and cost estimating (RS Means CostWorks). Ability to analyze and optimize internal and external processes. Skilled at preparing clear, concise, and accurate reports and presentations. Apply engineering principles and techniques to the solution of engineering problems. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work and effectively act as a representative of the Owner/Client. Ability to understand and interpret engineering construction plans, specifications, contract documents, complex technical and legal documents, maps, and technical drawings and plans. Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds (occasionally) and 20 pounds (frequently). Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions. Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain. GUIDANCE/RESPONSIBILITY: Receives overall guidance on emphasis and approach from Construction Manager or Project Manager. Generally able to work independently and determine solutions. Provides training to less experienced personnel. Manages the profitability of projects and their forecasted budgets. Oversees the utilization of team member subordinates. SUPERVISORY: Capable of supervising individuals and teams.
