An aerospace client is looking for a Design Engineer to create statements of work, processes, procedures, and production layouts for the manufacturing of tooling assemblies, machining, and material handling equipment.Location: El Segundo, CA 90245Position: Design EngineerPay Rate: $42.38hr. on W2Duration: 12 months or longerSchedule: 980OVERVIEW:Will work closely with the tooling design team and in-house fabrication group to translate complex tooling designs to instructions suppliers can bid and fabricate. Is responsible for tooling liaison support between Manufacturing Suppliers and the Tooling group. Will coordinate directly with suppliers to ensure all aspects of the build process are understood and responsible for suppliers meeting quality, cost, and schedule.RESPONSIBILITIES:Support development of tooling packages for supplier bid process through procurement group.Read and analyze complex GD&T drawings and help analyze existing drawings to identify shortcomings or missing information.Track supplier performance and answer all technical questions related to the manufacturing of tools.Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) equipment to support suppliers in the manufacturing of tooling.Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions andor improvements in tool design layout to fellow responsible engineers or teract with design and development teams (teams include specialists in Design, Analysis, Quality, Materials, and Manufacturing) to meet all design tooling requirements (technical, cost, schedule)Support Continuous Improvement activitiesSupport activities related to estimating, RFQRFPRFI, and ROM pricing.REQUIREMENTS:US Citizenship is required.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineeringscientific disciplineAt least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering facility or equivalentComposite manufacturing experience is a plusKnowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, composites, GD&T, grinding, laser cutting, water jet, and shop aid building are needed for the role.CAD solid modeling (experience with NXCATIA), laser inspection, and drafting experience are a plusIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellenceExperience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Proficiency with GD&T best practicesMust be a self-starter and possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamExperience with tooling design, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing is a plusOral and written communication, computer, documentation, and presentation skills are requiredAbility to prioritize and manage time effectivelyAbout our client:Our client is a world leader and premier innovator in aerospace, with over 100,000 top talent employees providing the most advanced products and technologies in the industry.
