The Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager will demonstrate strong technical skills set from academic or a mixture of practical experience ranging from Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Quality, and Production based programs. HeShe will lead the execution of cross-functional strategies and plans that ensure we execute the company's production system quality control roadmap. Additionally, the Quality and CI Manager will lead the plant's continuous Improvement initiative by utilizing the Cornerstone Building Brands Production System Methodologies at the site to ensure continuous, systemic, and sustainable elimination of waste.This position reports to the Plant Manager with a dotted line reporting to Corporate Quality and CI Regional Leadership.Handles Quality AssuranceControl site functions at a tactical levelActs as a key contact for suppliers and customers on quality-related issuesExecutes effective methods for inspection, testing, sampling, and trainingDeploys and validates approved revisions of existing methods and procedures to improve products and or processesManages all CTQ, prioritization quality matrix (QPM), problem solving, and other modules as part of the Corporate Quality strategyExecutes and maintains all reporting documentation for quality-related topics as requiredProvide support for all company established quality programs as requiredEnsures measuring equipment calibrations are being performed and kept up with per scheduleWorks with suppliers striving to provide defect-free components for use in the manufacturing processEnsures alignment of data collection and analysis with organizational quality objectivesManages and champions all lean concepts, kaizen events, and other modules as part of the Corporate Continuous Improvement strategyFacilitates and leads the continuous improvement process by identifying training needs and providing training in problem solving methodology, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, PDCAEngages the leadership team in setting and achieving goals utilizing Lean initiatives. This includes working with key leadership both functionally and strategically to drive overall improvements in specific areasDirects and coordinates CI and process engineering activities in the plantEnsure that CTO and CI activities are aligned with goals for each plant and with the Regional CI ManagerProvides input and feedback to key leadership positions about process improvement opportunitiesLead efforts to develop and deliver trainingAssists in the hiring, leadership, development, coaching, supervision, evaluation, and disciplining of departmental staffCoach hourly production associates on process adherence as it relates to CI and Quality AssuranceConduct monthly training sessions with hourly associates on quality standards and practicesCoordinate with plant leadership team and material suppliers to maintain compliance with certification requirementsProvide tactical coaching on Lean Methodology and other CI techniquesAssist plant leadership with leading problem-solving activities (PDCA)QualificationsBachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or five to six years related experience andor training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceSix Sigma certification a plusThe successful candidate will have at least 5+ years of manufacturing experience and at least 2 years of quality experience or continuous improvementEnthusiastic about the value quality and continuous improvement brings to the manufacturing process and passionate about keeping technical skills up to date, understanding best practices, and deploying quality systems and kaizen events to achieve prescribed goals and targetsDisplays a strong ability to use data to rationally analyze and solve issuesExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff and run eventsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.AutoCAD experience a plusAvailable for minimal travel (10%), for training and knowledge sharing
