Job Title: Airfield Civil InspectorLocation: Onsite at JFK International Airport property (Queens, NY)Duration: 24 months contract, with possible 12-24 month extension. (W2 Only, No C2C)Job Summary:A Government customer located in the NYC area is seeking a dedicated and experienced Airfield Civil Inspector to join their team for the current JFK International Airport construction project. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on field construction inspection. This role is responsible for inspecting the civil components of airfield construction projects, including pavements, drainage systems, grading, and other infrastructure, ensuring that all work complies with project specifications, regulatory standards, and safety requirements.Key Responsibilities:- Field Inspection: Perform on-site inspections of civil engineering works including runways, taxiways, aprons, pavement, grading, and drainage systems, ensuring compliance with approved design plans, specifications, and regulatory standards.- Compliance Verification: Ensure all construction activities comply with FAA, ICAO, state, and local regulations, including environmental, safety, and quality standards.- Construction Oversight: Monitor the work of contractors to ensure the proper execution of civil construction projects, maintaining project schedules and identifying any deviations from the approved plans.- Testing & Verification: Oversee material testing, including soil compaction, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications. Verify pavement thickness, elevation, and alignment as per the design requirements.- Issue Resolution: Identify and document any issues or deficiencies on-site and work closely with contractors and engineers to resolve them efficiently to avoid project delays.- Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed daily reports, inspection logs, and other documentation, noting progress, materials used, and any issues encountered during construction.- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that projects adhere to FAA, state, and local codes, as well as environmental regulations. Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are in place before commencing work.- Quality Assurance: Ensure that materials and workmanship meet the required standards and specifications, including reviewing contractors' adherence to approved methods and project timelines.- Safety Monitoring: Monitor on-site safety practices to ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety protocols, reporting any safety concerns to project managers.- Coordination: Collaborate with engineers, contractors, project managers, and other inspectors to ensure smooth coordination of construction activities and adherence to project timelines.Required Qualifications:- Minimum of 5 years of relevant civil engineering experience.- At least 3 years of field construction inspection experience, preferably within an airport or airfield environment.- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with design and field engineersarchitects, project managers, contract engineers, schedulers, and financial analysts- Demonstrated experience performing inspection services in highly congested urban areas- Valid Driver's license- SIDA Badge (or credentials to secure such)- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) andor Secure Worker Access Consortium (SWAC) certification (or ability to secure such)Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working on FAA-funded projects or familiarity with FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) regulations.- Knowledge of airfield-specific pavement evaluation and rehabilitation techniques.- Familiarity with grading, drainage systems, and stormwater management in an airport environment.
