The Director of IT, as a Senior Engineer and Technology Strategist, is integral to driving technological excellence within SAR Academy. Responsible for overseeing the Help Desk, hardware maintenance, and software management, this position combines technical expertise with strategic vision. Tasks range from managing school infrastructure and hardware budgets to fostering vendor relationships and implementing innovative IT solutions. Additionally, the role supports creative initiatives like video production and live streaming, ensuring seamless integration and optimization across all technology platforms. As a key collaborator, reporting to the Director of Technology, the Director of IT plays a crucial role in advancing the institution's technological capabilities and strategic objectives. Responsibilities Help Desk and Technical Support: Manage Help Desk and Assign Tasks to Appropriate Agent Support all technical aspects of the business office operations Technical support and solutions for the business office, ensuring seamless operations Effectively troubleshoot under pressure, minimizing operational disruption and aligning with strategic technology goals Maintain and update accounts and troubleshoot systems including Zoom, Adobe, Microsoft, and all educational software Collaboration with Production Team Onboard and Offboard faculty and staff in regard to their accounts Infrastructure and Hardware Management: Manage and Maintain School Hardware, including the physical aspect of the network (ports, wires, servers) Maintenance of Technology Infrastructure Throughout the School, Including SMART IFP, Network Equipment, A/V Equipment, IP Phones, Printers, and Other Equipment Printer Management and Maintenance Routine Maintenance and Repairs of Desktops, Laptops, and iPads Maintain and Consistently Update Hardware Inventory Implement Systems for Tracking Hardware Assets Plan for End-of-Life Hardware Disposal and Replacement Devices for Student 1:1 iPad Program and Faculty 1:1 Laptop Program Budgeting and Procurement: Collaborate on Budget Planning for Hardware Maintenance and Documentation of Budget, Including Procurify Submissions Vendor and Contract Management: Evaluate, Select, and Manage Relationships with Technology Vendors, including negotiating contracts, finding new vendors, and following up with new projects Interface with Technology Consultants and Vendors Systems and Software Management: Support Valcom PA System and Zoom Phone System Make Recommendations and Implement Network Infrastructure Changes Document Hardware and Software Standards, Policies, and Procedures Configuration, management, and deployment of Apple devices (iOS and macOS) using JAMF Configure and manage Valcom PA System Configure and manage Zoom Phone System iBoss (Filter) configuration, management, and deployment Implement and enforce security policies, device configurations, and application installations Collaborate with the team to administer Google Workspace via Google Admin Console Strategic Planning and Development: Manage IT Team Create Technology Documentation and Tutorials for the school and Help Desk Strategize IT migration as needed Identify potential areas for technology improvement around the school and implement them Support technical aspects of live streams, including sports games after school hours as well as in-school live stream events Video Production and Audio-Visual Systems support Creative Office Technology Setups Media Equipment Troubleshooting Requirements Takes a collaborative approach to leadership and a commitment to teamwork Provides strategic direction with regard to enterprise-wide technology Understands networking protocols and the ability to analyze existing network infrastructure in an effort to apply best practices and implement possible ability to strategize IT migration, as needed Ability to interface with a variety of constituents in developing and implementing a strategic vision for administrative and educational computing. Ability to identify potential areas where existing technology policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed in order to adhere to future technology standards and concepts. Is detail-oriented and takes a strategic approach to workload priorities Understands the role of technology in education and the needs of teachers and educational staff Can be available and participate in system repairs and implementations that must be done during non-business hours Has a high level of energy, patience, empathy, and understanding in meeting the overall needs of all technology users in the schools Experience with Mac iOS, 1:1 iPad environment, Google Apps, Google Admin Console Experience in iPad and Mac deployment using Jamf or a similar MDM B.S. or B.A. degree in Computer Science or related major. Advanced degrees or certifications in programs such as Jamf, Google, etc. are a plus Minimum of 5 to 7 years in Information Technology capacity in a school environment $130,000 - $150,000 a year This 12-month, full-time position in the Technology Department offers a comprehensive benefits package and a salary commensurate with experience.
