Let's dive into the details: Your Impact: As Senior Director, Corporate Accounting, you will play a crucial leadership role in our global finance function. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to assess accounting treatments for significant transactions, guide compliance efforts with U.S. regulatory requirements, and provide actionable insights through rigorous technical accounting analysis. This is a hands-on, high-performance role that will drive the integrity and accuracy of our financial reporting and be key to our strategic initiatives. Your Responsibilities: Strategic Partnering : Collaborate with Corporate M&A, Finance, and Treasury teams to assess accounting implications of significant business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, investments, and other initiatives. You will provide clear guidance on the accounting impact of these activities. Technical Accounting Leadership : Lead research on technical accounting issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and U.S. GAAP across multiple complex areas (e.g., goodwill, leases, share-based compensation, revenue recognition, gross vs. net revenue presentation). Prepare detailed white papers to document technical accounting positions. Innovation & Implementation : Lead the process of implementing new accounting standards and changes, ensuring that the organization stays ahead of regulatory and policy changes. Financial Reporting : Oversee the preparation, review, submission, and distribution of financial reports required by governmental and regulatory agencies, such as U.S. SEC 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, ensuring complete accuracy and timeliness. Risk & Reserve Estimation : Lead the estimation and validation of significant reserves for the company, such as legal reserves and variable consideration under ASC 606. Work closely with operational teams to gather data, execute models, and adapt methodology to new business initiatives. Team Leadership : Inspire and lead a high-performing team by developing their skills, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence, and creating opportunities for growth and career development. Actively manage workloads, streamline processes, and drive continuous improvement within the team. Audit & Compliance Management : Liaise with auditors and ensure compliance with SOX requirements. Take ownership of the financial reporting process, from preparation to audit. Investor Relations & Communication : Collaborate with Investor Relations and senior leadership to prepare external-facing financial reports, such as sales and earnings press releases, and reports for securities analysts, investors, and industry groups. About You: We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. As a leader in corporate accounting, you will embody Groupon's sports performance culture, where setting goals, continuous improvement, and embracing challenges are key to success. You are driven to lead a high-performing team and are excited by the opportunity to deliver strategic value through financial expertise. Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA required. 15+ years of accounting experience , with at least 7+ years in a leadership capacity . Expertise in technical accounting research and analysis , particularly in the areas of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and compliance. Proven experience overseeing compliance with SEC financial reporting requirements , including 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K filings. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams , driving high performance and growth. Strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, with an ability to pivot and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of conveying complex accounting concepts clearly and concisely to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
