Apply Description The Assistant Controller is responsible for all accounting and financial aspects of the Domestic and Canadian operations, ensuring a maximum return on financial assets through policies, procedures, controls and reporting. The Assistant Controller also oversees general accounting, cost, payables, payroll and risk management. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in planning, developing and implementing the finance/accounting function and overall performance. Recommends and develops policies, procedures and systems to meet company objectives. Oversees all financial activities for Domestic and Canadian operations, including but not limited to: reporting, budgeting, revenue and expense reviews, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, preparation of financial statements and audits. Monitors financial status and business financial trends through the review of revenue and expenses, regularly evaluating financial data and preparing ad-hoc reports. Assists with the development and maintenance of relationships with banking, insurance and external accounting firms to support business needs. Responsible for developing a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs for both Domestic and Canadian operations. Protects company assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls. Supports the acquisition of capital assets to ensure proper recording, amortization and disposition. Assists with contract and vendor agreement reviews to support risk management for business insurances, sales, equipment leases, etc. Builds, develops and mentors Domestic and Canadian finance/accounting team capable of carrying out needed initiatives. Supports the maintenance of the accounting software to ensure accuracy and availability. Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance/accounting functions. All other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field. In lieu of degree, equivalent combination of education and/or experience accepted. Minimum of 10 years' experience in finance-related role. At least 3 years' of proven, progressive managerial experience. Strong knowledge and capabilities in Business Central, Great Plains or related accounting software. Knowledge and understanding of GAAP required, while CMA certification preferred. Corporate sales tax, audit-related, as well as international and intercompany financial consolidation experience preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Strong leadership skills including exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to establish relationships, work and interact with employees and departments throughout the organization and across geographical offices. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to mentor and develop direct reports through a hands-on leadership and coaching. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: There is little risk of injury. Work hours are generally during normal business hours, working at least 40 hours per week. May require some additional hours as business and financial needs arise. Infrequent travel may be required. Consistent and regular attendance required.
