The Controller is a senior-level management position that will lead the enterprise-wide accounting and financial reporting activities of all regions and businesses units. This role requires a strong background in accounting and management, along with exceptional analytical skills and the ability to lead change and collaborate with a diverse team. Controller Financial Operations Management: â–ª Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across all locations and Regions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll. â–ª Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial transactions and reconciliations across all Regions. Financial Reporting and Analysis: â–ª Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each location, department, and the consolidated entity in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). â–ª Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, highlight areas of concern, and provide insights to senior management for all Regions. â–ª Review, analyze, and communicate cash position risk issues including those with respect to unapproved and unfunded change order work in place. Team Leadership and Management: â–ª Provide leadership and guidance to the St. Louis and Colorado accounting team fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. â–ª Supervise and review the work of accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and reporting across all locations and regions. â–ª Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development. Internal Controls and Compliance: â–ª Develop and implement robust internal controls across all locations and Regions to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records. â–ª Monitor compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations at each location and department. â–ª Conduct periodic internal audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and make recommendations for improvements. Financial Strategy, Decision Support, and Integration of Acquisitions: â–ª Partner with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic initiatives and business decisions across all locations and departments. â–ª Assist with financial analysis and evaluate investment opportunities, acquisitions, and cost-saving measures for each location and department. â–ª Assist in the financial integration of acquired entities, including aligning financial systems, processes, and reporting with the company's standards. Technology and Process Improvement: â–ª Identify opportunities for process automation, system enhancements, and technology adoption to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency across all locations and Regions. â–ª Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement accounting software upgrades and integrations. â–ª Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in accounting, financial management, and controls. Qualifications • Construction accounting experience preferred • Bachelor's degree in accounting with CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification is preferred • Experience with Viewpoint Vista a plus • Proven experience (8+ years) in progressively responsible accounting roles, with at least 4 years in a managerial capacity • Proven ability to guide, coach, develop, and motivate a team • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
