About American International College: American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 88+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has approximately 2200 graduate and undergraduate students. Job Description: Plan, supervise and direct the Human Resources activities of the College, including but not limited to: talent management, employee relations, compliance, college policies and procedures, compensation and benefits administration, performance management and training and development. Analyze market trends to ensure the College remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent, overseeing recruitment, selection, and on-boarding. Oversee the design and administration of competitive and equitable compensation and benefits programs. Streamline HR processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness and guide technology solutions. Provide leadership and guidance on HR/work-related matters to the President, and supervisors that impact the College's overall success. Ensure institutional compliance with HR-related legal and contractual requirements with federal, state and local employment laws. Develop HR budget to ensure that resource allocations reflect organizational priorities. Serve as a member of the President's Cabinet. In partnership with the College's Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, ensure that HR activities are inline with recruitment, retention and development of broad and diverse talent. Enhance and sustain positive employee relationships throughout the College to ensure policies, procedures and practices are equitable. Manage the HR team and set clear and challenging goals that emphasize service, collaboration and communication. Build strong relationships with various constituents, including, students, faculty, staff, alumni and community, demonstrating an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively. Ensure the performance management process encourages staff development and advancement. Develop strategies to improve employee satisfaction, morale and performance Assess internal communication strategies and modify as needed to facilitate the effective sharing of information across the College. Act in a transparent and consistent manner with high integrity and a reputation of remaking and owning critical decisions in the best interest of the College. Support senior level searches and partner with search firms as appropriate. Effectively negotiate with vendors, including health and welfare insurance brokers and retirement plan investment managers. Other duties as assigned by the President. Requirements: Required Degree(s): Bachelor's degree. Preferred Degree(s): Advanced degree preferred. Required Field of Expertise: Experience in HR - Possess HR functional skills and knowledge in all relevant areas: organizational development, staffing and recruitment, compensation, benefits administration, compliance, college policies and procedures, performance management, training and employee and labor relations. Preferred Field of Expertise: Understanding of higher education structures gained through HR experience in higher education, however, candidate with HR experience in business or industry will also be considered. Required Training/Cert: Minimum of seven years of HR experience. Demonstrated success in supervising a results-oriented HR team. Strong computer skills of HR software. Ability to work within a diverse environment in respect to equity, inclusion and belonging.
