This position is responsible for creating, developing, anchoring and supporting the execution, compliance, and continuous improvement of internal and external safety programs. Drive behavior-based safety culture to achieve accident-prevention and loss mitigation at E2 Optics customer locations. Develop the site-specific safety metrics to achieve the corporate goals and champion initiatives to enhance safety performance. Core Duties & Responsibilities: Safety is our number one priority. Follow safe work practices in accordance to company and client worksite policies. Works daily with Site Leadership and Safety Coordinators to strategize efforts to promote safe work practices, safety awareness culture and support compliance with internal and external requirements. Develops and enhances safety and health training, SOPs and work instructions to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations. Trains Safety Coordinators and employees by implementing safety training, instruction and guidance to achieve identified business needs. Maintains training records to track. Promotes safety culture, health awareness and professionalism through employee engagement, communication, collaboration, training, mentoring and leading by example. Site Safety champion for conducting incident/accident investigations, subsequent documentation, problem solving and implementation of countermeasure(s) to realize safety performance targets. Inspect, review and approve PTPs and JHAs. Manages, oversees and conducts safety inspection/auditing programs and resulting data analytics. Manages company safety information on third party web-based databases required by our clients. Manages other existing and emerging compliance matters such as safety data sheets (SDS), emergency planning, community right-to-know, hazardous waste, etc. Maintains safety files and records structure for corporate and field audits to verify actual results, compliance and business reporting to E2 Optics corporate and our customers as needed. Drive continuous improvement activities and support Lean initiatives across the site to align with deployed corporate strategic goals. Manages corporate safety initiatives at site level while maintaining alignment across the program sites. Maintains accident-prevention and loss mitigation programs for incorporation into the operational policies of the organization, including work-site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for materials. Formally establishes, tracks and communicates safety expectations, goals, standards and metrics then measures actual performance to identify gaps for improvement opportunities. Chairs and manages the site Safety Committee charter and is a visible example of exemplary safety behavior. Manages new employee and contractor onboarding safety orientation. Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries at E2 Optics or client sites and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, insurance investigations and those required by regulatory agencies. Coordinates with Human Resources with drug, alcohol, and medical screening of all employees. Travel: This position is generally expected to require minimal overnight travel (5%). The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required by E2. Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in EHS discipline OSHA 501 certification CSP, ASP, STS-C, IOSH and/or CHST certification equivalent Experience: 8+ years Occupational Health and/or Safety experience in a construction environment. Working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health, and safety laws. Extensive experience with inspections, incident investigations, process safety, contractor safety, safety training, hazard reviews and job safety analysis. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong leadership, communication, influencing and collaborative skills. Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and decision making. Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis and continuous improvement skills. Effective oral and written skills. Demonstrated professionalism and ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others. Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) and MS Project. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. Ability to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, use hands, stoop, kneel, bend, rotate, push, pull, reach with hands and arms on intermittent to regular basis daily. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. The employee may be required to work in tight, confided spaces. The employee must demonstrate regular and on-time attendance. There could be a requirement of occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
