Job Description Role and Responsibilities The estimating engineer provides process/part modeling as well as material & labor usage calculation of metal finishing processes. The position entails cradle to grave estimating support to the realization of new products within a technically oriented metal finishing facility. The estimating engineer will be required to: Review, interpret and analyze quote requests, blueprints and material/finishing specifications. Follow up with customers for supporting information if required. Calculate material and labor usage through part and process modeling. Consult with engineers, production managers & line supervisors/leads in various departments to discuss process flow and tooling for the purpose of formulating estimates. Assess cost effectiveness of plating services as compared to initial bid cost estimates as process is developed. Provide follow up correspondence with customers and sales encouragement regarding potential new applications and projects. Provide support to engineering throughout the product realization cycle. Interface with customers for supporting information when required for development of sample, first article or full production processes. Enter pricing information from quotes into ERP software and verify invoicing accuracy. Address customer invoicing concerns and provide corrections/adjustments to invoicing errors. Provide engineering design support and interface with customers for supporting information when required for development of R&D, first article and production tooling/fixtures. Function in a customer service role to manage due dates of quotes and feedback to customers on quotes. Write original content for website blog posts and social media outlets. Provide sales support to customer inquiries regarding metal finishing process application and capabilities for new products, designs and applications. Meet with customers to discuss new projects or metal finishing applications and develop processes and testing of same. Qualifications and Education Requirements The well qualified candidate should have a BS in engineering, math, finance, accounting or business. The candidate should have advanced knowledge and mastery of MS Excel. No engineering or sales experience is required. A background in accounting and finance would be preferred. Preferred Skills Highly organized, detail oriented with motivation for sales-focused engineering and process support. Excellent written and good verbal communicator in a customer service role. Energetic and outgoing self-starter that possesses the ability to work with minimal supervision. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit the majority of the day and walk distances of up to 100 meters between buildings out of doors. The employee will spend extensive time computing and talking on the telephone. The employee must periodically lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a climate controlled, office environment approximately 80% of the time. Up to 20% of the work can be completed remotely using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). The balance of time will be in a metal finishing manufacturing environment around metal finishing processes and equipment.
