Summary As part of a Congregation team at The Austin Stone Community Church, the Groups Lead (GL) will be responsible for leading, equipping, caring for, and mobilizing groups and missional communities toward engaging the lost in Austin with the Kingdom of God. The GL will report to the Spiritual Formation Director / Pastor. Essential Responsibilities Ensure the implementation of the groups strategy for launching and multiplying new groups of believers on mission in Austin. Recruit, develop, equip, and resource group leaders and coaches. Collaborate with the Connections Associate/Director to plan and execute environments for group growth. Provide general shepherding care to Partners and regular attenders, connecting elders or deacons to any pastoral needs. Lead a team of deacons to uniquely invest, support, and network the participants, leaders, and coaches of the congregation group network. Steward the ministry budget. Manage complex data and reporting - document, track growth, and measure progress. Administrate equipping environments. Partner with the global and local missions teams to leverage short-term trips and local missions efforts for kingdom impact and leadership development. Assist with redeploying the participants of the Discipleship Making Intensive, Goer Missional Communities, and returning goers into the life of the Congregation. Support special projects as assigned. Attend all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including all Sunday services, staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, and staff development days. Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferred 2 years of experience in a vocational ministry role or equivalent experience Previous experience shepherding people and providing pastoral care, preferred Experience leading volunteers, preferred Competencies Administration - Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement ministry programming. Integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan. Strong ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, with dependability and excellence. Able to create and manage a ministry budget. Communication - Has clarity of speech and proper use of grammar. Demonstrated capacity to inspire, instruct, and encourage through effective communication in various settings. Able to communicate and work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input. Practices proactive communication laterally and upwardly in the organization. Proficient use of telephone and web video conferencing. Detail Oriented & Organizational Skills - Proven skills in creating, implementing, maintaining, and following through on processes that ensure people are engaged, cared for, informed and connected. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Able to successfully develop new and better ways to work and promote a continuous improvement mentality. Collaborative Leadership - Strong complementary leadership skills and capacity to lead in concert with other leaders. Demonstrated ability to network and connect with leaders toward Kingdom outcomes. Collaborate across the organization and with various ministry partners. Cultivate purpose-driven, relational networks. Leadership Development - Ability to lead, recruit, resource, and mobilize volunteer teams to scale. Ability to recruit, manage, and lead resident/intern teams. Proven capacity to multiply leaders (staff, deacons, volunteers, etc.) who hold and can communicate the church's values.
