For Water Street Mission (WSM) to fulfill its mission and purpose, it is critical for all staff to participate in the development and maintenance of a healthy Christian Community. The love of Christ, evidenced in our Water Street community, is the real impetus for change with our guests. Job Summary: Serve in an executive capacity as part of the WSM Leadership Team. Lead the Finance and IT team into growth in quality and effectiveness in its areas of mission, and in relevant objectives in the Strategic Plan. Supervise the ministries of Donor Processing, Finance, and Information Technology. FLSA: Full time, Exempt All Water Street Mission staff must be: • Willing to sign the Water Street Mission Statement of Faith • A current and active member and/or regular attendee of a local church • Able to fully support the Water Street Mission core values and ministry philosophy Essential Functions: Culture and Values • Share the Good News of Jesus Christ in words and actions with people we serve, communicating hope and dignity • Walk alongside fellow WSM staff in Christian community as we journey toward maturity • Encourage restoration in the lives of guests, recognizing we are each restored by God to become restorers • Work in full coordination with other WSM staff at all times to identify, report and respond appropriately to any potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of guests • Embody, encourage and cultivate WSM culture, purpose, mission and values in words and actions Role Specific Responsibilities • Oversee and provide leadership and guidance to all financial, donor processing, and IT aspects of the ministry • Responsible for driving operational functions to support WSM services, business goals and objectives • Serve as a business partner to the President on the organizations' financial, budgeting, and administrative processes including policy, risk management, payroll and benefits functions-with an eye to continuously developing and improving systems • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of systems and procedures that will provide timely, accurate and thorough reports on the overall operating condition of WSM • Responsible for measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external financial processes • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist the President and Board or other senior executives in performing their responsibilities • Work as part of the WSM Leadership Team to develop, communicate and implement effective and steady growth strategies and processes • Conduct, oversee, and review the financial analysis and reporting function • Conduct and oversee the audit and tax preparation functions • Manage compliance with relevant bodies - IRS, AICPA (GAAP), PA (various), ECFA, FHLB • Treasury/cash management to maximize the effectiveness of available funds • Monitor outside asset management of investment accounts in accordance with investment policies • Supervise and manage processes that support donor related functions such as administration including donor mail processing, administration of bequests, donations of securities and gift annuities • Make key business decisions with regard to insurance, risk control, and overall benefit costs • Provide the leadership necessary for WSM to strategically deploy technology for effective accomplishment of ministry goals • Participate in the vision and development of WSM as a whole • Seek to continually improve hiring, onboarding, orientation, training, and evaluation of Finance, and IT staff; in coordination with VP, People and Culture and Leadership Team • Define, measure and report relevant outcomes • Grow and empower relationships across departments • Develop key external partnerships where useful to achieve all of the above • Represent WSM to the public as needed and beneficial • Participate as a member of the WSM Leadership Team and Operations Leadership Team • Other duties as assigned Supervision • Supervise Finance and IT Department ministries • Serve as Acting Director if a director position of a ministry in your department becomes vacant, until a suitable acting or permanent replacement can be found • Actively cultivate positive team culture and excellent supervisory practices in the Finance and IT Department • Seek the spiritual and professional development of all staff in your department, including leadership development where warranted; partner with VP, People and Culture • Participate with WSM Leadership Team in determination of annual merit pay raises • Ensure excellent development and participation of volunteers where appropriate in your division, in partnership with VP, People and Culture Education and Experience: Four years' financial leadership required. Seven years' work in accounting or finance required, experience with non-profit accounting and fiscal audits a plus. Experience growing relationships with community partners and representing an organization to the public. Strong evidence of active Christian formation, spiritual maturity and wise leadership.
