Office locations include: Kansas: Wichita, Overland Park, Manhattan, Hutchinson, McPherson, Hays, Great Bend, Colby, Larned Arkansas: Little Rock, Jonesboro FLSA Status: Nonexempt Position Summary The individual in this position performs routine accounting activities such as payroll, general ledger posting, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports, and accounts payable and receivable functions for governmental clients. This individual is familiar with fund accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This role performs work at a higher level of complexity for governmental clients. They may also perform duties that include any of the following: budget prep, statutory compliance, audit support work, direct client consulting, and other special projects as assigned. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Requirements Required Experience and Education Associate Degree or higher preferred with 4-6 years in relevant position or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with the Kansas Municipal Audit and Accounting guide is preferred. Major Duties and Responsibilities •Understands clients' needs and is proactive in proposing solutions •Prepares and analyzes fund financial statements and budget •Proposes journal entries and transfers between funds •Reconciles bank accounts and investments and can resolve discrepancies •Prepares payroll and payroll taxes, processes accounts payable, encumbrances and utility payments •Compiles raw data into trial balance format, including recapping cash receipts and disbursements •Prepares cash flow reports monthly forecasting revenues, expenditures and unencumbered cash •Research reference materials involving fund accounting, payroll, and statutory questions •Performs: financial statement prep, budget, complex professional write-up work, audit support work, direct client consulting, and other special projects •Performs other duties as assigned Desired Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics •Ability to maintain confidentiality of firm and client information •Effectively communicate through oral and written means •Client service oriented and has public relation skills •Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism •Excellent organizational skills •Ability to use office equipment including a computer, copier, scanner and printer •Ability to demonstrate confidence and good judgment when interacting with colleagues, supervisors, and clients •Ability to work well with others Work Environment On request, this role may travel to governmental locations for training or other special projects.
