Job Overview: The Controller is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the accounting and finance functions of our client,. This role is critical in overseeing the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic business decisions. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations of the accounting and finance department, including procurement, treasury management, payroll, inventory control, accounts payable, and accounts receivable/collections. Direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions, supervising 3-5 staff members. Complete month-end close and financial reporting for various entities, including balance sheet and bank account reconciliations. Issue timely and complete financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows) with data packages and analyses on key operating metrics to all key stakeholders. Construct and monitor reliable control systems, policies, and procedures, assisting with implementation, documentation, and maintenance. Recommend benchmarks to measure financial and operating performance and develop performance measures and incentive systems. Mentor, teach, and lead staff members to understand budgets and report analysis. Oversee employee benefit plans (401k, insurance) to maximize cost-effective benefits. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and maintain record-keeping standards. Manage annual budget and forecast production, report significant variances to management. Handle special projects and financial analyses, including product-line profitability analysis, pricing decisions, product costing, gross margin analysis, business planning strategy, capital investments, and contract negotiations. Collaborate with other departments on projects related to inventory, engineering, sales, marketing, and R&D. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Prepare documents for and coordinate year-end federal and state tax reporting with the external Tax CPA. Process payroll and related tax filings and payments. Create and enter G/L journal entries as necessary. Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a concentration in Accounting and/or Cost Accounting. MBA in Accounting or Finance and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations preferred. Experience: 10+ years of public, corporate, or cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing. Background in manufacturing, assembly, fulfillment, shipping, inventory management, and supply chain is a plus. Skills: Strong knowledge of cost/management accounting, standard costing, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls systems and processes, inventory control measures, full cycle accounting, and month-end closings on large ERP systems. Technical Proficiency: High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (Aptean Intuitive preferred) and capacity to learn new data applications. Experience with SQL and Power BI is a plus. Personal Attributes: Strong interpersonal, written, communication, and organization skills. Experience working with outside professionals, including banks, lessors, attorneys, insurance companies, and tax CPAs. Self-starter, driven, and lifelong learner with integrity, credibility, hands-on strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
