We have an exciting opportunity for an Avionics Network Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX . ** We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews. ** If selected you will: Develop knowledge of the avionic network system design Maintain and update spacecraft avionics lab hardware and software Work in an Integrated Product Team to develop and test safety-critical networking Configure and troubleshoot development hardware and software with limited documentation Identifying bugs, and work with the product vendor to reproduce and resolve Communicate and demonstrate progress to management Organize and manage multiple priorities Work in an Agile, fast-paced environment Perform other duties as required Qualifications: This position has been posted at multiple levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area. Knowledge of Computer Networking Familiarity with Network Troubleshooting Techniques Knowledge of Linux or Unix environments Experience with a Scripting language such as Python, BASH Knowledge of C/C++ Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude Must be local to the JSC area and willing to work onsite at Johnson Space Center on a regular basis Self-starter who can understand and absorb new concepts quickly Preferred Qualifications: Experience with application of computer network technology in space system Experience with spacecraft avionics and circuit design or analysis is a plus Familiar with Git or other similar configuration management/version control systems Familiar with commercial products available in computer networking technology Familiar with Time-Triggered Ethernet (TTE) (SAE AS6802) and AFDX (ARINC 664p7) Familiar with network cabling standards Familiar with VxWorks RTOS Benefits Competitive pay Positive work-life balance 100% Employer paid insurance including: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term disability, and long-term disability 11 paid holidays annually Generous PTO 401k after 12 months of service with employer match Education assistance Relocation assistance (if applicable) Mclaurin is a unique organization with a special focus on combining the best features of research and industry in order to foster innovation.
