Job Title: Associate Director of Shelter Operations and Supportive Services Location: Onsite at Taimon Booton Navigation Center Reports to: Megan Phalon (she/her), Director of TBNC Services Classification: Full Time, Permanent, Exempt About Us: San Francisco Community Health Center is a federally qualified health center that provides culturally competent high quality medical care, mental health services, education, and outreach. Role Summary: The Associate Director of Shelter supports the shelter operations of Taimon Booton Navigation Center. This role works directly with shelter supervisors and front-line staff, offering support and training. The Associate Director will work closely with the Shelter Director regarding operations, supplies, and making sure the shelter is meeting all expectations. Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant for this position will be comfortable handling a variety of tasks and overseeing a broad diversity of work areas, including developing, implementing, and administering the vision, strategy, and goals of the programs Supporting guests and improving efficiency and effectiveness of shelter operation Ensure the dorms are safe, clean, and free of biohazards The Associate Director will also be responsible for aspects of contract management, scheduling, budgets creation, monitoring, and modifications and support in data tracking and programmatic evaluation Oversee site supply inventory and food bank ordering, track expenses, and manage petty cash and credit card handling and reconciliation for staff Create a tracking for guest grievances and work together with the site director to provide follow up regarding site wide complaints Input Denial of Service Data for monthly reporting for HSH Hire, retain, supervise, and professionally develop staff alongside the Site Director Collaborate with HR on employee relations concerns Ensure all staff have all required HSH, DPH and SFCHC trainings that are being logged Lead the implementation of Safety and Compliance Policies and Procedures and ensure that all TBNC employees are properly trained. Practice assertive, open, and non-violent communication skills to verbally prompt guests and communicate with staff to maintain safety and smooth site operation Support the Site Director with the onboarding and offboarding of staff Develop and manage relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure the organization receives quality services and products at a reasonable cost Schedule and coordinate with external and internal stakeholders for site inspections (OSHA, Fire Department, etc.). Participate in required department, inter-departmental and agency-wide meetings, trainings, and activities. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: 4+ years of experience as an operations leader within social services focused on homeless individuals or those at risk of homelessness. Proven ability to oversee complex projects and program by tracking multiple work streams, delegating relevant tasks to others, and providing ongoing progress reports. Deep understanding of trauma-informed care and of the challenges that TGNC homeless individuals face. Previous experience working on complex employee escalations with HR departments. This includes writing and delivering warnings, employee improvement plans and terminations as necessary. Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated by delivering clear and concise messages and prioritizing the needs and understanding of the listener. Demonstrated ability to meet the needs of diverse internal and external stakeholders through active listening and the curiosity and drive to creatively solve problems. Proven ability to read, understand and write extensive narrative, numerical and statistical reports. Must be able to handle multiple tasks professionally and ethically within multi-racial and multicultural settings. Able to build bridges of understanding by creating connection and shared perspective. Attention to detail and initiative to improve processes. Superior interpersonal skills and proven track record of building strategic relationships with individuals, groups, and organizations. Demonstrated success and results in deploying analytical and critical thinking skills in service of long-term strategy. Must obtain TB clearance (within past 12 months) and complete background check upon hire. Current with vaccinations including latest Covid-19 vaccine with at least one booster, and seasonal flu, and able to provide proof. Preferred: Associate or Bachelors degree Previous shelter experience strongly preferred Direct connection to TGNC community Three years of experience developing policies and procedures. Experience working in an FQHC or other type of Community Health Center.
