Salary Range: 70,000 - 75,000 USD Annually The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level. ALM is seeking a New York Litigation Reporter who can pilot our coverage of a number of key beats with national and global significance. It's a fast-paced job in a digital-first environment, so the ability to keep on top of beats, come to work with ideas to execute and the ability to manage multiple tasks will be essential. You'll be joining the Litigation Desk of a global newsroom, with plenty of opportunities for sophisticated and collaborative reporting. You'll also be responsible for the daily news diet for thought leaders in the law. It's an exciting opportunity at the hub of the legal industry. This news reporting position, based out of ALM's New York office, will focus primarily on the following litigation practice areas: Securities: Cases where investors when investors file a lawsuit against an issuer of a security alleging fraud in connection with its purchase or sale; Private equity: Investment firms and the companies in their portfolio who engage in litigation over post-purchase disputes, and representing companies in post-acquisition litigation and investigations, and Finance: Representation of financial services companies in virtually all aspects of litigation, including complex criminal and civil litigation, class actions, regulatory matters, and investigations. The reporter will have a secondary focus on tort litigation including defective products, environmental torts, defamation and personal injury, especially on matters yielding big verdicts or settlements, or challenging matters that resulted in defense wins. They'll monitor critical civil decisions of the federal courts in New York City and follow select cases from complaint through trial. The litigation reporter will also cover judicial economy and case management in the major downstate trial courts in the state system. Candidates ideally will have at least two years of news reporting experience. Why you should join ALM...
