Budget and Financial Analyst University of the Virgin Islands Position Details Classification Information Classification Description: Professional FLSA Status: Exempt Position Information Position Title: Budget and Financial Analyst Position Number: Department: President's Office Job Description 1. Under direction, responsible for monitoring the budgets of the Office of the President and Component by reviewing financial reports, tracking expenses, and assisting with budget planning to ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance with financial policies and procedures. 2. Assist with the development of annual and multi-year budgets, working closely with senior leadership to align financial resources with strategic goals. 3. Prepare regular financial reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights into budget performance, variances, and trends. 4. Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning. 5. Provide forecasts to help guide long-term financial planning and resource allocation. 6. Manage the payment of bills and invoices for the Office and process purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to resolve any billing issues. 7. Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll for the Office. 8. Oversee document management and filing systems for financial records. 9. Monitor and manage grants and other general and restricted funds to ensure proper allocation and reporting. 10. Monitor and report on the financial aspects of strategic plan implementation. 11. Manage special projects as assigned for the Office of the President. 12. Provide administrative support to the Executive Director for and on behalf of the Foundation for the University of the Virgin Islands, including preparing correspondence and reports, maintaining accurate records, and serving as the recorder for the Board and related meetings to include preparing meeting agendas and taking meeting minutes to ensure accurate documentation of discussions and decisions. 13. Prepares for the Foundation's financial audits and completion of the interim and annual audited financial reports in collaboration with consulting accountants. 14. Work collaboratively with others across the institution and with the Office's team on key initiatives and special events. 15. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field Preferred Qualifications Master's degree preferred 5+ years of experience in financial analysis or accounting and administrative support experience Knowledge of higher education financial management practices and regulations preferred but not required Physical Demands Must be able to travel for meetings, conferences, and training. Must be self-motivated. Must have the ability to be composed at all times. Must have to ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time. Work environment: The noise level in the work environment will be moderate.
