Position: Sterilization Assistant (SA) Reports to: Practice Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Date: November 2023 Core Competencies Exceptional personal and professional patient welfare Effective Interpersonal communication Accurate supply care and management Roles and Responsibilities The Sterilization Assistant (SA) will provide support to Dentists and Dental Assistants by completing the necessary equipment sterilization work so the patients are efficiently cared for. Duties include, but are not limited to: Sterilization of instruments Maintenance of sterilization units, and inventory Assist with data entry pertaining to supplies used in dental clinic Responsible for inventory data used to maintain supplies in the dental clinic Participate in instrument, equipment and supply management Clean, disinfect, sterilize, package and restock instruments, supplies and equipment Clean and lubricate dental hand pieces/accessories, instrument cassettes, and bur blocks Identify instrumentation and monitor all cassettes for completeness of content Perform weekly maintenance on all sterilization equipment Generate re-order list of clinic materials Utilize aseptic techniques when handling instruments, equipment and supplies Track, inventory and dispense dental instruments, supplies and equipment Maintain the organization, cleanliness and general appearance of the sterilizing rooms and their related storage facilities Requirements Required Qualifications and Skills H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Willing to serve the Practice with a flexible schedule Physical Demands Ability to continuously sit, stand or walk for extended periods Ability to wear a facemask for long durations Work Environment Work will be completed at a dental practice
