The Audit Department at our Eastern Territorial Headquarters in West Nyack, NY has an opening for an Internal Auditor. This position will perform the duties of a Salvation Army auditor as outlined in The Salvation Army International Financial and Accounting Standards (IFAS) and Industry Standards for the Eastern Territory under the direction of the Territorial Audit Secretary. Responsibilities: As a Territorial Auditor, to fulfill the responsibilities assigned by the In-Charge auditor of an auditing team which includes but is not limited to: Making adequate preparations before the audit commences by defining the sample sets and procedures to be followed through a review of advance documentation and issues to be addressed while preforming the assignment. Conduct interviews with Auditee and employees. To maintain workpapers in audit software by collecting, cataloging, and uploading required support documentation for the audit department files on return from each assignment. To complete the audit issues/findings by reviewing, correcting, editing, and compiling all documentation found. Interact with management and operational staff of the entity being audited to discuss and clarify questions, issues regarding procedures, documentation and processes being reviewed during the audit. Creation of production list for site visits. Overnight travel possibility 3-6 times a year. Learn, develop, and hone SME (subject matter expert) assigned to you. Keeping a non-biased, non-confrontational, objective view throughout audits. To treat all information gathered in the audit process as confidential. To set the tone of each engagement in a cordial, supportive and respectful manner with all personnel. To maintain open communications on all engagements with local administration, staff, audit team members, the Territorial Audit Secretary, and the Audit Manager during each engagement. To maintain a personal awareness of the latest standards and techniques of the audit discipline, pertaining to the industry and The Salvation Army. To perform support audit assignments requested under the direction of The Territorial Audit Secretary when requested. Performs operational audits based on established risk-based audit plans. The scope of audits may include comprehensive site audits and special investigations. Must have the keen ability to identify and summarize various risk exposures.
