Position Type: Food Service/Part Time Cafeteria Date Posted: 8/5/2024 Location: Nappanee Elementary School Position Title: Part-Time Cook FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Responsible to: Food Service Director/Cafeteria Manager/Building Supervises: none Principal Evaluated by: Food Service Director Terms of Employment: Varies Evaluation Period: Formative evaluations throughout the school year as per WCS Performance and Assessment Procedures. Annual summative evaluation prior to July 1. Purpose of the Position: Responsible for preparing food and maintaining a healthy environment for food consumption. Minimum Requirements: The following are the qualifications and minimum requirements necessary for a person to perform this job. High school diploma Meet all mandated health screening requirements Ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team Ability to interact comfortably and confidently with students and staff Essential Functions of the Position: The following functions have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be essential to the successful performance of this position. Prepare main dish daily according to the menu. Make sure sufficient food is available for the week according to the menu. Help serve during lunch hour. Attend workshops and training sessions as required. Make sure all food items are prepared in a timely manner. Secondary Functions of the Position: The following functions, while important and necessary to the position, have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be marginal to the successful performance of this position. Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or as directed by the Food Service Director, Cafeteria Manager or Building Principal Knowledge of: Policies, procedures and functions of Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Trustees and the Indiana Department of Education Ability to: Plan, organize, and schedule priorities. Use independent judgment and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems. Make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Equipment Used: Industrial cooking equipment, computer, and applicable software Place Where Work is Performed: All Wa-Nee Community Schools buildings Physical Demands: Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch. Must be able to hear and speak clearly. Must be able to lift items of 20 lbs. regularly/50 lbs. occasionally.
