Salary: $50,680.00 - $68,169.00 Annually Location : Tuscaloosa, AL Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: FT2024:18 College/Division: SSCC-Building and Equipment Maintenance Opening Date: 09/26/2024 Closing Date: 10/10/2024 11:59 PM Central Campus Location: Shelton State Community College Position Summary This position is responsible for duties such as installation, repair, maintenance, and inspection of pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in a commercial environment. The Facilities Maintenance/Plumber will identify and diagnose plumbing problems and ensure plumbing systems operate smoothly. This position is also responsible for performing general maintenance duties to include carpentry and keying systems processes to include key system maintenance on locks, lock cylinders, door closure related hardware and cutting keys, as assigned. The position also provides oversight and/or assistance to contractors, vendors, architects, and engineers as needed. The Facilities Maintenance/Plumber is responsible for plumbing repair work, which may involve the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, irrigation systems, equipment, and fixtures. SALARY SCHEDULE PLACEMENT: Range of $50,680 - $68,169, based upon the Alabama Community College System and Shelton State Community College Salary Schedule E1-02 to be determined by the applicant's education and years of applicable experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities: Perform general and preventive maintenance related to plumbing to specifications as directed by supervisor Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures (such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters) in a commercial environment Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems, identifying and diagnosing plumbing problems using appropriate tools and techniques Assist in the preparation of bids, budgets, and cost estimates Assist with the sprinkler and irrigation system as directed by supervisor Adhere to all plumbing building codes and regulations and ensure that all work meets safety standards and follows best practices Secondary Job Duties and Responsibilities: Perform general maintenance and carpentry as directed by supervisor Assist with key system, lock cylinders, and door closures Provide oversight and/or assistance to contractors, vendors, architects, and engineers as needed Assist Electrician as directed by supervisor Provide oversight to work studies and/or temporary employees as needed Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills Perform routine carpentry functions as required Other Job Duties and Responsibilities: Comply with policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College Serve on College committees as required Participate in professional development, compliance, performance excellence, and training activities as required Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to include assisting in other areas Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED Journeyman Plumber or Master Plumber license/credentials in the State of Alabama and the City of Tuscaloosa, Alabama Preferred: Experience with occupation hazards and safety precautions of plumbing and carpentry trades Experience with plumbing and general carpentry Application Procedures/Additional Information Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as indicated on this vacancy notice and must submit a completed online application packet to be considered for this position. Salary Calculation: For all positions on all Salary Schedules, the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable schedule.
