About the Opportunity: We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join us as a key member of our highly technical research and development team. As part of the Oxford Instruments Group, X-ray Technology (XT) is a leading global manufacturer of world class high-performance X-ray sources. This position is based full-time on site at the X-Ray Technology office in Scotts, Valley, CA. The focus of this job centers around producing timely results that are high quality and accurate. Benefiting from an analytical, inquiring and critical mind, this job requires imagination and strong problem solving skills, but with a strong technical orientation. The job requires an ability to deal with abstract concepts, systems and ideas and all of that in an organized and self-disciplined way. It also requires that serious consideration be given to all possibly related facts and potential problems. This job demands deep knowledge and expertise and to do it successfully depends on understanding detailed information. Intellectual confidence is important in this job and to do it well requires close, hands-on involvement, careful follow-up and very disciplined, and limited, delegation. This job is technically demanding and 'strictly business', with little need for influential 'people interactions'. Central to this job is the need to weigh all decisions carefully and thoroughly, based on expertise in order to avoid unpredictable risk. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate in our dynamic and flexible Oxford X-ray Technology R&D team Solve complex problems, design, develop, and implement analog-digital circuits and systems for the control and processing of our sealed glass X-ray tubes Design solutions for high voltage applications associated with X-ray generation Implement and optimize interface solutions for hardware and software controls and automation Development of firmware for microprocessor and/or FPGA control Support of entire life cycle: from ideation to volume production and obsolescence Construct and commission rapid prototyping Address Voice of the Customer (VOC) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on timely, correct results Decisions are made based on careful understanding of all available information; detailed technical knowledge; expertise and serious considerations for all sides of the issue/problem This position requires strong follow-up to ensure that work quality and attention to detail remain very high Steady, even pace of activity with a large degree of predictability from one day to the next Well-define processes and procedures exist to perform activities People-focused, while being reserved in nature Helpful, "service" orientation Strong focus on repeatable, very high-quality results Required Qualifications: Bachelors of Science (e.g. electrical engineering, physics, chemistry) and several years of relevant electrical engineering industry experience. Working knowledge of PCB layout, circuit design, numerical solutions, and fluent in SW tools such as Altium, and Cadence PSpice. Software programming experience with one or more of the following: Python, C, C+, C#, MATLAB, Simulink, LabView, Lab Windows. Expertise in reading, editing, and generating circuit diagrams, schematics and circuit mechanicals Solid experience using the document control system for engineering change orders, notifications Enthusiasm for physical sciences Self-driven, emotionally invested, and able to work with diverse teams Excellent written and spoken English language skills Desired Qualifications: Participation in research and development, from ideation to a released product. Working knowledge of data acquisition, programmable logic, human interface device, automation hardware and software. Salary: In accordance with California law, the expected salary for this position is between $115,000 - $130,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
