About Us: Archetype Permanent Solutions client is dedicated to delivering innovative transportation solutions. We are seeking a growth-oriented Civil Engineer to lead our Highway Department, focusing on project execution and collaboration across various transportation initiatives. Position Overview: The Highway (Civil) Department Manager will play a critical role in driving departmental growth and ensuring the successful execution of transportation projects. This position involves working closely with clients, project teams, and other Project Managers throughout the project life cycle, guaranteeing seamless project delivery and high client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Civil Design: Oversee and perform structural design calculations for various projects according to the NYCT design manual and other relevant design criteria documents. Structural Modeling and Analysis: Construct structural models and conduct structural analyses using software tools such as SAP2000, CSI Bridge, and Open Buildings Designer. Documentation: Prepare comprehensive project reports for submission post-design phase, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards. Quality Assurance: Review design calculations and structural models produced by team members to identify and eliminate potential errors. Pre-Design Review: Examine structural drawings to understand existing structures before conducting design checks. Project Reporting: Provide regular updates on project status and design progress to supervisors, participating in weekly and monthly team meetings to discuss resource allocation, project challenges, and lessons learned. Field Inspections: Conduct field inspections for design projects to ensure compliance with design specifications and project standards. Contract Preparation: Lead the preparation of contract plans and documents, including bid documents, ensuring alignment with project requirements. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required. Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the design of roadways, intersections, ADA curb ramps, parking, and pedestrian facilities. Licensure: PE license in NJ or ability to obtain within 12 months; PE License in NY is a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and design tools such as INROADS and Civil 3D. Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT plans, cost estimates, and specifications. Agency Knowledge: Exposure to procedures and standards from agencies like NJTA, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, or PennDOT is advantageous. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients. Why Join Us?
