This could entail working off a supplied design or require building a design from high-level customer requirements. Bids could include small service calls to large multi-system construction projects which are completed over several years. The position should be concerned with getting the best price that will win the contract in a competitive bidding situation while ensuring that the contract can be carried out profitably. The Estimator work includes gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents; using design best practices and standards in combination with their own experience and expertise; generating labor, material, and time requirements. The Estimator must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors, vendors, and distributors to ensure that information is received within established timelines. They also must work with Project Management and implementation teams to understand timelines, schedules, and resource availability. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales Engagement and Leads Management Assist Sales Representatives with technical opportunity qualification by collecting and documenting customer environment information. Meets with Account Management, customer, and Solution Architect when appropriate to validate budget, purchasing vehicle, design, integrations, and expectations prior to building the design or cost basis. Meet with customers to understand expectations and scope of work that is being quoted. Review the plan centers and other avenues for possible opportunities; work with Sales Representatives to determine sales engagement. Assist Account Managers and Solution Architects in educating customers on the breadth of Ednetics Specialty Systems. Work closely with Solution Architects to maintain technical knowledge of Specialty Systems solutions and current Ednetics portfolio. Engage Solution Architects to bring solution engineers and other experts into the conversation where needed. Quoting and Bid Response Fulfill various Specialty System quotes and bid response requests. Prioritize and manage a queue for multiple sales requests and ensure on-time delivery. Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions as required. Have a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades as assigned. Develop a list of possible RFI's and clarifications that may need drafted upon award. As required, meet customer on-site to capture information for a complete and accurate bid including pathway, reflective ceiling types, cabling requirements, device placement, comm room locations, system integrations, etc. Build a comprehensive scope for the work being performed. Create bid lists that fit the scope of work, ensuring that we have the right subs for the project. Minimize exclusions with thorough data gathering assessment and design. Includes value-engineering on quotes as appropriate. Regularly update Sales Representatives and Management on status of requests including updating records in ERP systems. Pre-Sales Administration Build system installation drawings and maintain version control. Prepare subcontractor bid packages as required; transmit addenda to subcontractors. Show creativity and resourcefulness to gain pricing advantages. Enter all relevant information into costing systems as required by the proposal and design. Maintain solid communication with Sales Team, Solution Architects, Subcontractors and Vendors to ensure the successful delivery of proposals and projects as assigned. Project Implementation Hand-off Upon PO or contract award, quickly and efficiently turn over bid documents, sub-proposals, and important documentation to Purchasing and Implementation Teams. Participate in hand-off meetings with Project Team and highlight any areas of concern. Work with Project Team to re-organize cost basis or quotes to accommodate any project requirements such as: Schedule of Values, Phasing, or Invoice requirements. Work with Project Team to re-organize SKU's and understand new costs in the event that internal scopes are changed. Cost Order Management Work with Project Management, Solution Architects, General Contractors and Subcontractors to estimate and respond to all COP's, PR, and CCD's within the timelines specified in our contracts. Other Be able and available to travel to customer sites up to 60% of the time. Be present in-office when not traveling. Home office opportunities may be present up to 20% of the position's schedule. Desired Skills and Abilities Experience with survey and design tools such as Bluebeam Revu or System Surveyor is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Visio a must. Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP/CRM systems will be a benefit. Education and Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in construction and specialty systems sales is required. Experience with installation or project coordination in the electrical and telecommunication fields is preferred. Familiarity working with education, government or public sector customers is a benefit. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Completion of low-voltage industry certifications preferred.
