Job Responsibilities: • Direct the welder qualification program • Create and maintain WPS requirements per AWS and customer specifications • Lead cost improvement and product improvement initiatives in the weld shop • Provide interpretation and direction for the weld shop for welding standards, customer standards and specifications, and internal standards and procedures • Develop and maintain weld shop training procedures including, but not limited to, new hire weld tests and ongoing yearly reviews Aid in selection of welding personnel and equipment Oversee welding equipment PM and establish effective PM procedures and techniques Conduct and oversee Technical Weld LPA's (Process and Operator Technique Audits) • Participate in feasibility and process development projects for new business awards • Work with the production supervisors and scheduling to ensure that development does not interfere with production schedules • Work with consumable suppliers to ensure they meet our quality standards and production needs as well as support improvement initiatives • Be the main customer interface for welding discussions in customer visits and meetings • Other duties as assigned Job Qualifications (Required) • At least 18 years of age (required at all locations) • High School diploma or GED (required at all locations) • 5 years' experience preferably in heavy plate fabrication, robotic programming • Understand the fundamentals of RSW, RPW, GTAW, GMAW, PAW, Soldering, Thermal Cutting/ Gouging, Brazing. Understand the fundamentals of VT, MT, UT, quality procedures and quality audits/ surveillance, understand the fundamentals of welding metallurgy, understand welding symbols and drawings, interpret drawings Job Qualifications (Preferred): • Bachelor's Degree in Welding, Manufacturing, or Engineering from an accredited college or university • Prefer CWI/CWE/ACWI • Include preferred education Physical Requirements of the Job: • Frequent walking, standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting and lifting for 8-12 hours per day • Able to frequently walk, stand, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, push, pull, twist and lift for 8-12 hours per day • Able to work in non-climate-controlled and noisy environment • Frequent overhead reaching and reaching with both hands • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting or maneuvering loads up to 50 lbs • Able to wear and tolerate Personal Protective Equipment (apparel and devices) • Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, blueprints, gauges, equipment settings, calibration instruments, parts labels and written materials • Reliable to come to work every day and be on-time • Flexible work availability, including Overtime during the week and weekends
