Position Overview The New Grad Electrical Engineer - Power Studies, Associate contributes electrical engineering technical knowledge to complete projects to deliver quality reports and assessments to internal clients. Typical projects include assessments of protection and control settings for coal, gas, hydro, solar, and wind power generation sites to determine compliance with applicable NERC standards. Deliverables include drawing markups, recommendations and conclusions on existing settings, and recommended changes if necessary. Responsibilities Execute work on multiple projects in parallel. Carry out responsible and varied assignments requiring general familiarity in the field of power of engineering. Problems usually solved by use of combinations of standard procedures or methods developed by others. Makes independent technical recommendations for small independent projects/studies. Independently takes care of internal client concerns. Deadline proficient and detail orientated with a high level of organizational skill. Implement and improve existing quality control practices to deliver consistent, accurate, high quality reports to internal clients Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field: Recent graduate or Senior with a strong academic record and a passion for electrical engineering. Technical Knowledge (nice to have): Experience with PowerWorld, PSS/E, ASPEN, ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB, and Autocad an asset Experience in work or studies with synchronous and asynchronous power generation, protection, and control and/or dynamic modeling of such systems Knowledge of IEEE Protective Elements typically used in generator and power system protection such as Element 24, 40, 50/51, 59, 81, and 87. Familiarity with with NERC standards including PRC-019-2, PRC-024-3, PRC-025-2, PRC-027-1, MOD-025-2, MOD-026-1, MOD-027-1, and VAR-501-WECC-3.1 Strong personal credibility with demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships. Computer proficiency including current versions of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients and collaborate with team members. Problem-Solving Aptitude: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges efficiently. Team Player: A collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and a dynamic work environment. Willingness to Travel: Availability for frequent travel to customer sites for on-site support and service tasks as needed.
