Position: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Division: Ponca Health Services Department: Behavioral Health Reports To: Chief Behavioral Health Officer Location: Omaha Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt Salary: Grade 14 ($74,949.82 - $109,246.57) Classification: Fulltime; grant funded Summary: The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a 'Service Delivery Area' comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services. Under the general direction of the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Behavioral Health Officer, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide psychiatric care for adults. Additionally, they will provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) for patients with opioid use disorders. The PMHNP must meet Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Standards and The Joint Commission Standards regarding diagnosing and treating major mental illness within the scope of practice Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to tret mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Responsible for providing psychiatric services to clients in a clinic setting during scheduled hours. Scope of services includes outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management services. Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, progress notes, and billing entries. Collaborate with relatives, significant others, and guardians on clients' conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate. Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies, i.e. insurance companies, as required. Responsible for making independent decisions based on protocols developed utilizing national guidelines for treatment interventions. Look for ways to improve and promote qu7ality. Provide teaching and education to clinical staff, if requested. Provide patient centered care recognizing cultural diversity with respect to cultural and spiritual beliefs. Abides by all clinic policies, medical staff bylaws, and rules and regulations. Act in accordance with good citizenship and professional standards, while contributing to the mission of Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. Other duties as Relationships and Authority: This position has no supervisory duties. Working Environment and Physical Demands: This position is in professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, scanners, and photocopiers. Qualifications: Minimum: Active and unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Active DEA license Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Valid driver's license and be insurable. Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks. Able and willing to travel. Preferred: Two years of experience as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner One year experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations. Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638" Indian Self-Determination Act.
