Job Details Job Location Indianapolis Field Services - Indianapolis, IN Position Type Full Time Description Cathcart Rail, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is a leading freight rail services and transportation company. We employ nearly 1,000 employees in more than 100 locations in 33 states and operate the largest railcar services network in the industry, encompassing 18 large railcar repair facilities and more than 75 field services locations in addition to a rail services division that operates three short line railroads and a dozen contract switching and transloading sites. We are currently seeking a Bench General Manager to support our long-term growth plans. The Bench GM of Field Services serves as a Business-Leader-In-Training to develop skills and experience to manage and lead a geographic territory in accordance with the standards of the organization, including all production activities and execution of our organizational and growth strategy to achieve quality, safety, customer satisfaction, revenue growth and profitability targets. Bench GM may fill as interim leader for a market/region where the incumbent role is temporarily vacant or to support market launches or other surge activities and is considered succession talent for permanent placement as such opportunities arise. Duties and Responsibilities Support corporate objectives, drive expectations, ensure safety, quality and production KPIs/metrics are being met. Ensure safety is made the highest priority on site(s); strive for continual improvement in compliance with federal, state and company directives. Lead by example, coach and develop management team centered around Cathcart cores values of Safety, Quality and Integrity. Support a positive customer experience, including prompt communication, accurate information and consistent delivery. Focus on continuous improvement in all areas of site management. Develop and propose improvement plans for senior leadership consideration. Participate in the financial stewardship for the directed facilities, including cost management and P&L review. Responsible for ensuring companywide programs, policies, and procedures are implemented effectively within directed sites. Coordinate internal and external resources as needed to provide Team Member training, endeavor for efficiency improvements, and reduce quality non-conformances. Responsible for the training and development of employees and supervisors while improving their own strategic skills and abilities in preparation for a future leadership assignment. Qualifications Preference for Bachelor's degree in Business or related field. At least five plus (5+) years minimum experience required in an operations or heavy manufacturing environment. Three (3+) years minimum of successful supervisory or management experience with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to run a successful operation. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategies into operation objectives and projects. Strong analytical skills, self-motivated with excellent teamwork. Goal oriented and a strong customer service attitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective use of standard office computer technology such as databases, word processing, ERP and reporting systems. Knowledge of General Accounting Principles and effective accounting controls. Requires the ability to manage and prioritize multiple goals. Ability to effectively present information to broad groups of audience, including senior management and external customers. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization. Candidates must be able to travel frequently across the entire Cathcart network to further their development and must be relocatable on a temporary or permanent basis.
