Responsibilities: This position is responsible for validating underwriting data in support of IFRS and Statutory financial reporting for Vela Insurance Services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reconciling premium and loss data from feeder systems, recording and IBNR, delivering on IFRS and STAT regulatory reporting deadlines. Accountabilities also include supporting the overall close process to ensure that all reporting requirements are adhered to. Complete technical account analyses and data checks for monthly and annual reporting and complete the underwriting schedules for quarterly and yearend statutory reporting. Assist in the completion of audited financial statements and coordination of data requests for external audits and state examinations relating to the statutory underwriting results. Assist in research of IFRS and STAT accounting policy changes and implementing changes to comply with reporting requirements. Work with HR on staffing and headcount reporting on a monthly basis. Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements. Regular and predictable attendance. Assist in project work as assigned. Qualifications: Four (4) year College Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or commensurate experience and training. CPA, MBA preferred. 3-5 years of experience with data reconciliation and financial schedule preparation. 3-5 years of relevant insurance accounting experience, including knowledge of US statutory and GAAP accounting principles. Knowledge of IFRS is a plus. Intermediate knowledge of insurance accounting principles, especially for property and casualty companies. Advanced experience with finance systems and proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access & database tools.). Intermediate experience in Data Quality and Reporting: Ensuring compliance of closing, reporting with internal & external requirements. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and processes.
