Responsibilities may include coordinating sales and marketing operations; grant writing: coordinating service and repairs of facilities; developing programs, activities and events; directing staff and preparing staff schedules. Primary Objective To manage the operation of the City of Owatonna public golf course in a manner that will maximize the services and revenues of the facilities desired level of accountability for and stewardship of the facility's resources. Provide strategic leadership of golf course resources to support the current and future needs of the course and create a work environment that encourages staff to perform to the best of their abilities and holds every employee accountable for results. Brooktree Golf Course This city-owned golf course and clubhouse is nestled along the banks of Maple Creek near the entrance of picturesque Mineral Springs Park. The winding creek is a sensory delight as golfers hear the calming sound of water flowing over smooth rocks, breathe in the fresh air of the lush surroundings and feast their eyes on the beautiful scenic land-scape. The babbling brook and abundant trees provide a charming namesake for the course. Specifically, as the Recreation Supervisor you will... Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of assigned facilities and related grounds, which includes determining recreation or sports offerings within established programs, prioritizing projects and assigning tasks, monitoring the work of subordinates, and responding to citizen requests and complaints. Monitors and inspects facilities which may include scheduling facility reservations, establishing and monitoring facility maintenance schedules, and performing related duties. Assists with budget preparation and administration; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; submits invoices for payment and monitors expenses. Prepares a variety of operational records and reports. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Qualifications ABOUT YOU: A successful candidate will have some or all of the following ... A bachelor's degree in Recreation Management or related field; 1 year recreation or related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Licensing in: Valid Driver's License; CPR Certified or obtain within 6 months of hire; First Aid Certified or obtain within 6 months of hire; May require Water Safety Instructor certification or obtain within 2 years of hire; May require CTRS Certification or obtain within 2 years of hire; May require a Certified Pool Operator License or obtain within 1 year of hire. Knowledge of: Supervisory principles; Recreational program planning principles and practices; Applicable age-appropriate activities, programs, and materials; Basic budgeting principles; Event planning techniques; Customer service principles; Recordkeeping practices and principles; Computers and related software applications.
